Looking at Weibo for China marketing. Here's the quick read:

Still good:

500M+ MAU, still the go-to for breaking news & trending topics

AI search and AI ad tools are improving

Not so good:

Revenue stuck around $1.7B since 2022

User base slightly down

Younger users spending more time on Douyin (TikTok) and Xiaohongshu

My question:
Anyone here actually running Weibo ads lately? Real results or just brand awareness?

Curious about real CPM and if it converts. Thanks.

From my experience managing multi-platform accounts, if you're looking for direct ROI, Weibo is no longer a primary funnel but a powerful secondary channel for cross-platform retargeting. It's mostly brand awareness unless your product aligns with trending topics. It works best for 'High-Intent Search' ads or during major news cycles. For performance-driven campaigns, I still prioritize FB/TikTok, but Weibo is a solid backup for high-volume, low-cost traffic.

Thank you for your reply. I think what you said makes sense.

The short answer is yes, but the "how" has completely changed. Weibo is no longer the place where you build a slow-burn community or drive massive direct sales

Yes, but in 2026, Weibo works best as a visibility + PR platform, not usually as the main sales engine.

I still think Weibo is a worthwhile platform for marketing. I've run a few campaigns there when my company was targeting the Chinese market, and it seemed to deliver better results than other platforms.

Weibo is still worth using in 2026 for marketing in China, particularly for building brand awareness and amplifying trends, but is not that good for generating traffic globally.
