Hi ,

With AI Overviews and constant updates, ranking has become a different ball game. It feels like Google is now strictly prioritizing 'Information Gain'—content that adds a new perspective rather than just rewriting what's already there.

I'm curious to hear your recent experiences on a few things:

  1. Personal Experience: Are case studies and 'first-hand' stories helping you rank better than standard articles?
  2. Author Authority: How important is a real author's digital footprint (EEAT) for you right now?
  3. Recovery: For those who got hit, are you seeing any success by adding unique images or original data?
What’s your current strategy to stay stable?

Cheers!

Yeah info gain is way more real now especially after AI overviews started taking space. Pure rewrites dont hold up anymore and first hand stuff or real examples seem to stick better. Adding unique images or data helps but only if the page already has strong intent match.

That is a brilliant point about the 'intent match'. It acts as the ultimate filter right now.

You can have the most unique data, custom infographics, and original stories, but if the user just wants a quick list or a transactional page, a 2000-word personal experience article will still fail to rank. It seems like Google's definition of 'intent' has evolved from just 'what' the user wants to 'how' they want to consume it.

Real-world examples definitely bridge that gap perfectly when the foundation (intent) is right. Thanks for adding that perspective to the discussion!

info gain helps but it’s not magic. google still ranks trust + intent match. real examples, screenshots, data give edge. ai fluff dies fast. eeat matters more in competitive niches

You hit the nail on the head regarding 'trust + intent match'. Information gain alone, without a solid foundation of trust, doesn't move the needle much anymore.

I've noticed that integrating custom screenshots with annotations or sharing raw, unedited data acts as one of the strongest EEAT signals right now. It visually proves actual hands-on experience. Anyone can prompt an AI to generate a 2,000-word fluff piece, but synthesizing real data and presenting it logically is what separates an actual brand from a disposable niche site.

Information gain is absolutely the meta right now. With AI Overviews eating up standard search results, rehashing what's already out there is a dead end.

From what Ive seen work lately, adding first hand case studies and using first-person pronouns (I, we, our) makes a noticeable difference in helping pages index and stick. Real author footprints on platforms like LinkedIn or X also pass way more trust than just clean schema markup. If youre trying to recover a hit site, swapping out stock graphics for completely original images or custom data tables is usually the fastest way to signal value to the helpful content system.

I pivoted my entire business to personal experience content and haven't looked back.

Not only is it the strongest type of content for conversions, but it also stands out against the generalised AI information pieces flooding the net these days.

In my experience it's a much stronger factor than author authority. I'm also seeing better rankings from existing pages which get upgraded to include the specific experience stuff.

AI isn't bad for content, but the majority of pieces are generated in a lazy fashion and can't compete.
