Hi guys,

I have a problem with geo-indexing. My website ranks decently in some countries (mostly Tier-3 and my local geo), but in many other countries (US, UK, EU, India, Brazil etc.) it’s almost invisible in Google.

I already did:

  • Proper hreflang tags
  • Good on-page SEO
  • Fast loading speed
  • Mobile-friendly

But it still doesn’t help much with international visibility.

Questions:

  1. What could be the main reasons why Google doesn’t rank my site properly in different geos?
  2. What kind of backlinks should I focus on right now to improve international authorityand geo visibility?
    • Should I buy country-specific guest posts (US, UK, DE, etc.)?
    • Or is it better to focus on high DR global sites with good traffic?
    • Any specific strategies that worked for you with multi-geo indexing?

Would really appreciate any advice from people who faced similar issues.

Thanks in advance!

Also check if your content is truly localized for each geo.

Sometimes pages are technically optimized but still written too generically. Local keywords, currency, spelling variations, examples and region-specific intent can make a huge difference for international rankings.

In my experience hreflang alone is not enough Google also looks at how relevant your content is for each country If your pages are not localized to match local search intent rankings can stay weak even with strong technical SEO

I would focus on translating and adapting content for each market building internal links to those pages and getting a few backlinks from websites in the target countries Country specific links usually help more than generic high DR links when you are trying to improve visibility in specific geos

It might be due to the lack of geo relevance, authority and trust. If you want stronger visibility in places like the US, UK, India, or Brazil, Google may need stronger links. That often means country specific backlinks, local brand mentions, local content, and stronger relevance tied to those markets.

I’d still keep building quality global links from strong domains, but if your goal is better rankings in specific countries, focus on adding more local links and high authority links. It may help.

Technical SEO isn't enough for geo-visibility; you need Local Authority. If you want to rank in the US or Brazil, you must build backlinks from sites hosted in those countries or with high organic traffic from those specific regions.

I recommend a mix: 70% high DR global sites for overall power and 30% country-specific guest posts to signal Google about your target geos. Also, make sure your backlinks are from sites that already rank for keywords in your target countries. This strategy works wonders for international indexing!
