Recently, it seems that domains belonging to web hosting companies that provide website builders are achieving extremely strong SEO performance.
They are ranking not only for low-competition keywords, but also for many highly competitive keywords as well.
Since this is somewhat similar to a parasite SEO approach, I do not think it will last forever. What are your thoughts on this?

Website builders do NOT automatically ruin SEO.
But they absolutely can destroy your Core Web Vitals and page speed if you don’t control what they generate.

These website builder domains benefit from massive inherited authority that helps them rank quickly for tough keywords. It is essentially a parasite SEO play that works because of the host's high trust signals with Google. It likely won't last forever, so milk the traffic now while diversifying your strategy for long-term stability.

Website builder domains are basically the new parasite SEO playground. Strong authority massive indexed pages easy rankings but once Google tightens quality signals a lot of these wins will disappear fast.

Youre spot on, its basically Parasite SEO but using the halo effect of high trust hosting providers like Wix, Shopify, or Squarespace. Since these platforms host millions of legitimate businesses, Google treats their subdomains with a baseline level of trust that a fresh .com just doesnt get.

However, youre right that it likely wont last. Google eventually catches on when subdomains are used purely for churn and burn rankings rather than actual business sites.

Agreed their search authority has clearly scaled up if they are successfully competing for high competition keywords now. o_O

These domains already have strong authority and trust so new pages can rank faster It works well for now but if the content adds little value those rankings may not hold long term

Yeah a lot of those builder subdomains get an initial boost from the main domain authority and internal linking.
But it usually doesnt last if the content isnt actually strong or gets too spammed. Google tends to adjust once patterns become obvious.

Agree!!
The inherited authority angle is exactly why it works so well right now.

You are spot on, it is pure parasite SEO exploiting the trust and authority of major hosting platforms. Google treats these subdomains or folders with high authority right out of the gate, making it easy to rank competitive terms. It will eventually get patched in a core update, so milk the traffic and diversify while it still works.

Although Hangi may have had parasite SEO in mind, many of these parasite pages are now heavily occupying the top search rankings.
Recently, the number of these sites has increased even more.

Of course, it’s uncertain whether these kinds of sites will be able to maintain top rankings over the long term, but it definitely seems to be a core strategy these days.

not new, just scaled harder now. those builder domains got insane authority + internal linking juice. users create thousands of pages feeding main domain. looks “natural” to google. won’t die, but weak pages will get filtered over time

DojaCat's point about "weak pages getting filtered over time" is the key thing to watch here.

What's actually happening: Google has been extending more crawl priority and baseline trust to platforms that host verified businesses at scale — Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow. The reasoning is logical from Google's perspective: if millions of real businesses with real customers use a platform, the platform itself carries implicit legitimacy.

The mechanism that makes individual pages rank despite thin content isn't just domain authority — it's also the massive internal linking structure these platforms generate automatically (sitemaps, category pages, platform-level XML feeds). Every new page gets instantly woven into a web of real links.

Where I'd push back on the "parasite SEO" framing: true parasite pages on these platforms face the same crawl budget problem as any high-volume site. Google doesn't rank every Wix page — it ranks the ones with actual engagement signals or incoming links. Zero-traffic pages on Wix eventually get deindexed or filtered just like anywhere else.

The window for this is probably tied to how long it takes Google to build platform-specific quality classifiers, which historically takes 12-24 months after a pattern becomes widespread.

Big hosting domains have years of trust built up so Google gives them a boost. People are using that trust to rank content fast which is exactly what parasite SEO is. It works right now but these windows never stay open forever. Google noticed guest post networks, they noticed web 2.0 abuse, and they will notice this too. Good to use now but not something to depend on long term.

It’s classic parasite SEO exploiting the massive root domain authority of these builder platforms. Google explicitly targeted this with their recent 'Site Reputation Abuse' policy updates, but the algorithm still struggles to separate legitimate builder subdomains from spam. It will eventually get patched, but until then, milk the rankings while it lasts.

it's pretty annoying to see those website builder domains snatching up all the top spots, especially when they're ranking for stuff they shouldn't be. Honestly, it's probably just a matter of time before Google cracks down on that parasitic SEO strategy and they all get demoted.
