How to approach SEO for a new forum in 2026 ? There is lot of information for website SEO on BHW but there is no updated information about SEO for forums here.
I have to say it again, this person is consistently providing the best insight on pretty much anything he says. For a new forum the first enemy is junk in the index, not missing backlinks. If Google sees thousands of profile pages, tags, and deep pagination before it sees real discussions, the whole domain gets treated as thin UGC. I’d lock that stuff out immediately and let only threads with actual replies get indexed. Titles need control from day one because the thread H1 is your keyword, and user slang titles won’t bring any traffic. Internal linking should happen inside posts where topics connect naturally, not from sidebar widgets.
there are more like him on the forum (@trueplayer for example also knows what he's talking about).... but yeah, I agree with you, he does provide good answersI have to say it again, this person is consistently providing the best insight on pretty much anything he says.
what else should be considered ?For a new forum the first enemy is junk in the index, not missing backlinks. I’d add intent mapping before users create chaos. If categories don’t match real search queries, every thread ends up in the wrong place and internal linking becomes random no matter how clean the index is.what else should be considered ?

Thanks @theusualkeysersoze and @tazarbm, appreciate the kind words.
Yes, getting new users constantly is a big challenge.Focus on clear site structure, quality user-generated content, and proper indexing. Consistent engagement, relevant keywords, and strong internal linking will help a new forum rank over time.
