Are days really over?

Have been afk for a long time. Cant connect with anybody that i knew a long time back.

Any irc channels that i knew are dead. What are people of trenches doing these days? ' put the fries in the bag " lil bro?

We used to have a great time in those chatrooms. Talk shit, make fun of things, talk about exploits n shit etc.

Guess those days are really over.

Thats AI era and even 30 second era, AI take overs everything.

Yeah, the internet feels totally different now. everything’s fast, noisy, and temporary.
Those old chatrooms had a real vibe though, just people hanging out and talking random stuff for hours.

Old forums and IRC vibes are mostly gone yeah
Everything moved into private groups and closed communities now
People still build stuff and talk shop but it feels less open and more transactional

I miss IRC and old forums
There is a feeling that can't be matched. But we are in the fast era and everything has to be instant (I'm a victim too)

be with new updated skills, try to learn new skills, you can even make friends and enjoy life, find good people around you.

That's not true, everything has not moved into private or closed.
Black Hat World has no closed nor paid signups and this is the largest forum online , we are still here and we will be there.

Well technically Reddit is the largest forum online.

However yes the days of xenforo, vbulletin forums seems to be coming to an end. Only the OG ones have survived and while google has devalued these type of forums over the last half decade.

Innovation is the key to their survival. Forum softwares have done a poor job at adapting. There are specific things they could have done but it requires alot of work. The teams running this forum software tech are such a small team of developers and don't have the manpower to develop tools needed to expand exposure.

Actually, it just changed shape.

This one hits. The IRC era is genuinely over, most of those channels emptied out between 2018 and 2022 when people either monetised, burned out, or got pulled into invite-only chats and never came back.

The real conversation didn't die though, it just fragmented. Most of it moved to private Telegram groups, that's where the actual vibe and trading lives. A handful of decent Discords too, plus Matrix and Element for the IRC purists who couldn't bring themselves to use Discord. Niche forums per scene still exist, they are just tougher than ever to locate and they all sit behind vouching or a paywall, fifty-ish to a couple hundred actually-active people each.

The community didn't die, the lobby did. Used to be /list and you found your people in five minutes. Now you need an invite from someone who already knows you, which is the part that feels worst when you've been away for a while.
