Start by installing a solid caching plugin like WP Rocket or LiteSpeed Cache if your host supports it. Also, make sure you're using a tool like Imagify or Smush to compress your images, as heavy files are usually the biggest reason for slow loading times on local sites.

one thing that helped me was keeping pages lightweight. too many animations, trackers and heavy themes slow sites a lot without adding much value.

use light-weight theme. I'm using twentytwentyfive from wordpress. it has got 100 points on mobile/desktop for pagespeed with custom content added. Also use litespeed server plus cache, and throw a free cdn like clouflare for extra caching layer. though many users say cloudflare slows down your site, its true, but you need to tweak settings to make it fast.
