I created a profile but don’t know what to do next. Should I focus on posting, connecting, or something else?

Focus on posting. Use lion groups to increase your connection count to 500+. Lion groups follow back with connection if you request connection.
I am assuming this is your personal linkedin account account not a fake one.
For fake and multiple linkedin accounts you will have to go with whole different statergy and lot of investment of time and money.

all of the above and start reading first, some guide here on bhw on how to effectively grow your account, there's tons of info here.

Start with building trust and a clear direction, not just posting randomly. Set your niche, optimize your profile (bio, content style), and understand who your content is for.

Then do a mix: light engagement (likes, comments, browsing) + consistent posting (1 post/day or every other day). This helps the account look natural and gives your content better initial reach.

Don’t rush growth - focus on learning what works (hooks, retention, topics) and adjust based on performance.

Start by optimizing your LinkedIn profile and connecting with people in your niche. Then post occasionally and engage with other's content to stay active. Consistency usually works better than posting too much at the beginning.

Start by building meaningful connections first. Then observe the kind of content those people are posting. Learn from their posts and start sharing your own knowledge with your audience. This way, gradually your audience will engage with you and you’ll build strong, meaningful connections.

After creating your profile on LinkedIn, start by optimizing your profile, connecting with your target audience, and consistently posting valuable content to build visibility and trust.

Start by optimizing your profile, connecting with relevant people in your niche, and posting simple value-driven content consistently to build visibility and trust.

Posting helps but networking is probably more important early on. Even simple conversations and genuine engagement can help your profile grow naturally

If your goal is to use LinkedIn effectively in 2026, especially for authority building, networking, or lead generation, the biggest mistake is treating it like a resume site only.

LinkedIn now rewards:
# consistent expertise
# conversations
# niche positioning
and creator-style engagement
You can use LinkedIn Effectively
# Optimize Your Profile First
# Start Posting Consistently
# Comment More Than You Post
# Build a Recognizable Position
# Use LinkedIn Like a Distribution Engine
# Focus on Trust Signals

LinkedIn is a great tool for building your network and showcasing your work, so focus on a mix of connecting with people in your industry and posting your illustrations or thoughts on relevant topics to get started

Complete your profile with a clear photo, headline and summary that shows what you do. Start by connecting with relevant people and engaging with their posts. Then begin sharing simple, helpful content consistently. Success on LinkedIn comes from combining networking, interaction and steady posting.

You should both post and connect with other uses but not overdo it as it will get you shadow banned. If you are selling a product or service linkedIn is great for promoting these and earning you money.

I'd say focus on connecting with people in your field and start engaging with their posts or sharing your own thoughts, it's all about building that network and getting your name out there

Profile optimization, networking in your niche, posting regularly, and participating via commenting on a daily basis can speed up the process considerably when compared to only posting.

For LinkedIn, begin with profile optimization and post frequent valuable content.
