Some tips that helped me improve my blog

Hi, everybody
Here’s what actually helped me improve my blogs on WordPress, Blogger, and one Ghost site I run.

On WordPress: Ditch heavy themes. I switched to Kadence + FlyingPress and my LCP dropped from 3.8s to 1.8s. Big difference. Also started adding a Table of Contents block right after the intro on every post (using Easy Table of Contents plugin) and added FAQ schema. That alone improved CTR from Google by a good bit.

On Blogger: It’s limited but I fixed the ugly default layout with custom CSS made images auto resize on mobile and changed the font stack to system ui. Also replaced the built in comment system with Disqus. Traffic from old posts went up because people actually stick around now.

Works on any platform:
1. Rename every image file with exact keywords before uploading example: “best-protein-powder-for-weight-loss-2026.jpg” instead of random numbers.
2. Update old posts every 8-10 months. I add 400-500 fresh words, new images, and change the published date most of them double their traffic within 6 weeks.
3. Add 4-6 contextual internal links in every post pointing to your best articles.
These are small changes but they compound hard. My total traffic is up ~50% since I started doing this consistently.

Good tips. I noticed the same thing after switching away from heavy WordPress themes. Site speed really changes everything now, especially for mobile traffic. Updating old posts is probably the most underrated SEO move because refreshed content tends to rank again much faster than publishing brand new articles. Internal linking also helped me reduce bounce rate a lot.
 
Responding to reader comments helps build a community.
Keeping older articles updated is just as beneficial as new ones.
Speed is key a slow website can make readers leave early.
Always think while writing What problem will this article solve for the reader
 
Speed improvements, better structure, and regular content updates can make a huge difference in blog growth.Things like internal linking, FAQ schema, and mobile-friendly design help both SEO and user experience.
Small consistent optimizations may seem minor at first, but they add up fast over time.
 
as per my experience most was posting regularly, connecting related articles with internal links, updating old posts with better information, and focusing on writing content that actually answers what people are searching for instead of only stuffing keywords.
 
Refreshing old posts is still one of the most underrated SEO wins in my experience.
A lot of people obsess over publishing new content while ignoring pages that already have ranking history.

Solid tips. Updating old content is seriously underrated — I’ve seen refreshed posts outperform brand-new articles many times.

One thing that also helped me:

- improving the first 100 words for better engagement
- adding comparison tables
- compressing images properly before upload
- targeting lower competition long-tail keywords
- building topical clusters instead of random posts

Site speed + internal linking + content freshness together seem to compound really well over time.
 
Most people chase backlinks while ignoring technical SEO and content updates.

Refreshing old posts + improving UX still feels underrated in 2026

Good points here, especially updating old posts instead of only publishing new ones. One thing that helped me too was improving the first few lines of articles because a lot of people bounce fast if the intro feels generic. Also noticed simple layouts usually outperform flashy designs long term.
 
One thing that has worked really well for me lately is tightening topical clusters instead of publishing isolated posts. I started grouping related content together with stronger contextual internal linking, and Google began understanding the site hierarchy much faster. I also noticed that refreshing title tags and meta descriptions during content updates gives another CTR boost that many people ignore.

Another underrated thing is reducing content bloat. A lot of pages rank better after removing unnecessary filler and making the answer clearer and faster to consume. In 2026, clean structure + relevance + consistent updates seem to compound more than chasing random SEO tricks.

I suggest updating old posts at least once per month, because it will give you a bigger boost in your rankings on google. Other than that you've got great tips!

changing old posts regularly or weekly may affect your rankings, too, so be carful with updating old posts, because it alerts google bots if your article is indexed.
 
Since everyone shares their tricks & knowledge so kind and professionally I cannot sit back,
here’s mine:

push backlinks to your blog posts (even the useless ones). that’s a powerful authority trick I found out to really strength overall website authority & trustworthiness. as much as your niche is competitive push more links to posts related, make sure posts that get links also inner linking to important pages in natural context way.

rankings rose from 50 to 4-5 to 1-2 bypassing
large insurance and finance competition in serps.. after client stopped working with me rankings and clicks dropped heavily

I found that pairing those tweaks with a quick sweep through Search Console helps a lot too. I just check which posts are getting impressions but weak clicks, then fix titles or add a missing section. It’s low effort and usually pays off. Also, compressing old images shaved a good chunk off load times on my sites without touching anything else.
 
In my experience, consistency, smart internal linking, content updates, and matching search intent matter far more than keyword stuffing.
 
The image filename point is definitely underrated same with refreshing posts instead of endlessly publishing new ones. One thing I’d add is tightening up category structure and removing thin pages that cleaned things up a lot on my sites and crawl efficiency improved.
