What has your personal experience been with monetizing movie recap channels, and what traffic monetization options are currently available in the market? I decided to upload two SEO directed videos 2 days ago just to see if it still alive, one of the shorts brought not only 700k views but over 200+ subscribers, and still counting

Nice results with that Short. 700k in a couple of days proves the niche is still a traffic monster but monetization is the real boss fight here.
Honestly getting AdSense on movie recaps is a coin toss in 2026. YouTube is flagging channels for reused content left and right unless your editing is crazy good and you have a very unique voiceover. If you are just doing basic cuts and summaries it is going to be tough to pass the manual review.
If I were you I would look into CPA offers like VPNs or movie streaming services. Or even better just funnel that traffic to a Telegram channel and monetize it there. It is way more stable than waiting for a YouTube check that might never come because of a random reused content strike.
Are you doing the voiceovers yourself or using AI? That usually makes a big difference for the reviewers.

I already have software that generates the recaps. Those two shorts were just snippets from the main recaps, which are created automatically in about two seconds. I only re-uploaded them to see whether that channel was still active. I actually have 30 channels, but only two of these niche ones, I’d already sold them to an individual marketer back in the day, when that niche was booming. I don’t really use AI for editing (most of the time I have a software that takes care of it, but not AI) unless it’s just for voice, like with ElevenLabs.

Most of the comments were asking, ‘Where can I watch this film?’ so I figured streaming sites might be interested in capitalizing on this kind of channel. I’m not looking to keep it for long, because I don’t have the time to manage it unless it can bring in decent income. I have to say, I do like the idea of Telegram I will pursue a bit more that sight.

movie recap niche as you stated is completely dead and most are getting demonetized anyway.. What you can do with it is just grow it for fun and sell the account eventually. The real income comes from long form content anyway

I get your point, but clearly is not really that dead, if this traffic could be converted we are talking about some great capital even doing affiliates to movie sites like amazon stream, not sure what you mean by demonetized, this channel has been monetized since 2004, it was created in 2021, its a channel of 5 years old and I haven't even received a flag or a demonetization warning... what I get paid in revenue is pennies its a shame... just for the latest video short we have made only $168 for almost 368,711 views... thats sad.

doing cpa marketing will be great, locking the place for the them to watch is then after the locker open it will redirect them to a site to watch it, secondly i will like to ask the software you use to generate the recap please

CPA its a bit hard but I will look into it, the software belongs to myself, its a self-made software we manage a marketing and app development agency, nothing really public I'm sorry about that.

this is wild almost 1 million views on a short I just posted 2 days ago.

Wildest day today, I thought this channel wasn't longer working, 1 short just surpassed the 1M views over 400+ new retained subscribers... this is crazy, I really need to find a way to redirect the traffic.

good potential, but movie recap channels are risky long term due to copyright, you need strong edits, voiceover, and transformation to stay monetized. best monetization is ads, affiliates, and building a niche brand off your traffic

That's terrible! I didn't think your video would get so many recommendations.

Try to see if the engagement keeps happening if you post normal videos and try to make people subscribe. You need to monetize that.
They might not accept YPP but you can still try your luck.

Nice results especially in short time movie recap channels can get good views but monetization can be hard because of copyright adding your own voice or edits can help stay safe.
you are right, I will try and see if I can make some improvements

Amazing thoughts, so far from 1M views we got 700+ subscribers, not much I agree, and 77.7% of them stayed to watch, and it has over 2000 comments already.

saw your thread, crazy numbers. you mentioned your recap software isn't public i built something similar that runs locally, 15 min per video. want to try it?

I just managed to check back the profile, and it ended up making 5.1 million views.

It's clearly a great niche for traffic, but also quite risky due to the risk of coypright strikes. The best option is to focus on other channels for monetization like brand deal, affiliate links in the comment section. Keep the clips short, and heavily edit them, including using AI voice overs.

Movie summary channels are a viewership machine if you do them right, people love consuming stories in short bursts, and the three to eight-minute format with intriguing titles works best, an eye catching thumbnail with close up faces and large text also adds a lot.

The problem has always been monetization through copyright, but the key is adding value, it's not enough to just include the scene, you have to analyze the character's psychology or the scene's context, if your voiceover is original and you offer a unique perspective, it's considered fair use, the channels that survive today are those whose owners truly know about film, not those that just cut scenes.

In addition to advertising, you can diversify with memberships for extra content, t shirts with iconic quotes, or affiliate links to platforms where you can watch full movies, if your niche is horror or science fiction, which have very loyal communities, take advantage of that, people will never get tired of being told stories, you just have to find your own angle.
