Hello guys,
this is my first time posting here. I’ve been reselling reps for about 2 months now. I’m currently making around €1,000 per month on eBay and Kleinanzeigen. So far, I’ve only been selling one product and I haven’t been listing it every day, so I’m pretty sure I could make even more than €1,000 a month. However, my biggest concern is the German tax office, as I have zero experience with taxes. Is there anyone from Germany who knows about this and could help me?

Thanks!

This is definetly in the range where the Finanzamt will consider this a business.

I personally would take the risk of not even mentioning it as you said its sometimes not even reaching 1000 euro in a month.

Especially since some of your payment are in cash I assume as you sell on Kleinanzeigen as well.

But generally speaking if it reaches higher amounts or if you want to go legal you will need to register as a minor business.

But if you register a business you need to pay income tax and trade tax (gewerbesteuer). Also note if you exceed 22keur/year you will need to charge VAT!

So yes, currently I’m at about 1000€ per month but none of this money is in cash; everything is via eBay, Kleinanzeigen oder PayPal. I’m currently expanding everything and I expect to make about 1500-2000€ very soon.
I was already planning to register a Gewerbe and pay my taxes regularly, due to the issue that I never did something like a Steuererklärung before my concern is that they will find out that I’m selling reps or what do you think ? Are the chances high of getting caught with this? Because I’m seeing so many people on the internet making big figures by selling reps.

About past sales..........

It depends really on if you used a real name or not and honestly I am not sure.

Ebay and Kleinanzeigen now always report your sales to the tax office (DAC7 rules),,, so there is that to consider...

But then again for such low volumes you do not need to worry about trade tax as there is a margin that is free (approx 24k).

But personal income tax is still a concern.

If you do register, initially you can just use basic spreadsheets to monitor sales. But eventually you will need a proper steuer person, especially with VAT. There are also accounting services online that help with book keeping. Basically a "software" that helps you fill out. I.e. Lexware office
