How important is traffic on linking domains vs just DA/DR?

I completely agree. DA and DR can be easily manipulated through spammy techniques these days, but real organic traffic is a much harder signal to fake. A link from a site that Google actually sends visitors to is always going to carry significantly more weight than a 'dead' high-DR site.

Traffic definitely matters more than just DA/DR, but it’s not the only thing either. Real traffic shows the site is alive, indexed, and actually trusted by users, which usually means links from it carry more value.
Traffic alone isn’t enough. A site can have traffic but still be irrelevant to your niche, which weakens the impact.
Look at relevance first, then traffic, and use DA/DR only as a secondary metric. A relevant site with real traffic will almost always outperform a high DR site with no audience.

DA/DR means nothing. Authority has shifted a long way in the past few years. I'm in that point that I feel that its very complex to determine what authority actually means. Google calls it EEAT to make it hard to decypher. Direct organic visits could clearly mean that the algorithm already values the site, but solely I'm not sure if its a matter of EEAT.
I have not found big experiments on EEAT lately. In the past, 5 years ago I would say, there were plenty of interesting experiments around this, but the lack of this is clearly a symptom that we are in the dark ages of SEO.

Real traffic is usually a much better trust signal than DA or DR alone because it shows the site is active, indexed, and still getting attention. DA/DR can be inflated pretty easily, but real traffic is harder to fake at scale and usually says more about link quality. Best links have both, but if I had to choose one, I’d take relevance and real traffic over raw metrics every time.

Traffic from search engine(Google) is much more valuable than mere DA. When your site is ranking it's because Google think it has value and worth the space. Google doesn't care about third-party metrics like DA. You shouldn't care as much.

Agree real traffic is a stronger signal than just metrics like Ahrefs Domain Rating. A site with active visitors shows trust and relevance.. Ideally, combine both solid metrics + real traffic + niche relevance for the best link value.

Agree real traffic often matters more than metrics like Moz Domain Authority. Active sites show trust and can send referral traffic too. Best results come from combining relevance, real visitors, and solid authority not just chasing DR/DA alone.
