Hi everyone,

I’m curious to know what strategies you’re currently using for link building.

Are you focusing more on:

  • Guest posting
  • Outreach backlinks
  • PBNs
  • Digital PR
  • Or any AI-based SEO methods?
Also, how do you make sure your backlinks stay safe and Google-friendly in today’s SEO environment?

Would love to hear your current approach and what’s actually working for you right now.

Honestly the whole link building game has shifted, in 2026 most penalties come from chasing links before the page is even ready to rank. My current order, guest posts and digital PR for foundation links only, skip PBNs unless you really know what you are doing because google is way better at clustering footprints now. The bigger unlock for me has been the AI side you mentioned, instead of building 50 random links I now check what google actually wants for each keyword first. Tool I use is freeserp.com, pulls live ranking, crawls top 3 competitors, shows where they are beating you on title H1 internal links and content depth, then gives a customised AI plan you can chat with on each fix. Half the time the issue is on-page intent mismatch not links. Once that is fixed even 5-10 quality links push the page hard, instead of needing 50+ to fight against a misaligned page. Got 5 client pages top 5 in weeks doing this.

In 2026, the safest links are still the ones that make sense without SEO attached, niche-relevant guest posts, digital PR, linkable assets, and clean outreach still work best. The key is keeping links contextual, editorial, and spread naturally across the site instead of forcing anchors into one page. AI helps with research and filtering, but not trust. Common mistake is scaling link volume faster than content quality and topical relevance can support.

Good question, this is something many of us are adapting to in 2026. I’ve moved away from aggressive link building and now focus on relevance over volume. Niche edits on real, aged sites with traffic are working well, while guest posting still works if done selectively rather than at scale. I prefer fewer but higher quality placements, and digital PR is becoming more reliable for earning links naturally. Content quality plays a big role now because without strong content, links don’t hold much value. I keep anchor text diverse, mostly branded and natural, and avoid exact match anchors. Link velocity is steady to avoid unnatural spikes, and I also focus on internal linking and topical relevance. Outreach still works but requires real personalization, not generic emails. I regularly track backlinks, disavow toxic ones when needed, and avoid over-relying on automation. AI helps with content ideas but not for spammy link building. Consistency matters more than scale, and Google is better at detecting manipulation now. Context and editorial placements feel safest, while forum and profile links are only for diversification. Overall, I avoid shortcuts, focus on long-term strategies, test small, and prioritize building trust signals alongside links.

Leaning more on digital PR + targeted outreach guest posts still work if they’re niche-relevant. Focus on real sites, varied anchors, and steady velocity; avoid footprints and over-automation.

The way to build safe backlinks in 2026 is to focus only on high quality content, guest posts, digital PR and natural mentions. Avoid spam or bulk links as Google now easily detects artificial link patterns.

Manual outreach and digital PR are still the safest bets for staying penalty-free. I focus on building relationships with niche-relevant sites rather than just buying bulk packages. Keeping the anchor text natural is the biggest factor for long-term safety. :)

Most people focus on guest posting, digital PR, and genuine outreach because they’re safer and more sustainable long term. The key is relevance, natural anchor text, and avoiding any manipulative or spam-heavy link patterns.

From last some years G***le just ignores links taken from bad or low-quality websites. Links which are seen natural or does not look as a force and which are from good authority sites helps with improving one's domain authority. Backlinks are still important but from relevant niche authority websites. Many new techniques have emerged to acquire good quality backlinks.

focus shifted from volume to context. links from pages that actually fit topic carry more weight. mix anchors, keep branded heavy, and build steady not bursts to stay under radar

I focus on guest posting and digital PR for high-quality, avoiding PBNs to stay Google-safe. I monitor links with Ahrefs and disavow spammy ones to keep the profile clean and risk-free.

Focusing on digital PR and high-quality outreach is the safest bet right now for avoiding penalties. I've been finding that getting a few solid mentions from niche-relevant sites with real traffic works much better than trying to scale with low-quality links.

Get links form trusted and relevant websites. Use outreach and guest posts. Keep anchor text natural and build links slowly. Natural links are the safest.

Right now I mostly stick to guest posts + manual outreach on relevant sites. PBNs and anything automated feels too risky and not stable long term. To keep it safe, I focus on real niche sites, natural anchors, and slow steady link building instead of big bursts.

Mostly sticking to guest posts + niche edits on real sites, mixed with some digital PR for authority. Keep anchors natural and avoid footprints that’s what keeps it safe.

In my perspective, outreach, guest posting, and digital PR are now the most effective strategies. I maintain Google-friendly backlinks by concentrating on relevant, high-quality websites, utilizing natural anchors, and staying away from spamming PBNs.

I build my backlinks such that it presents my websites as a brand not a spammer.

Lately I’m seeing the best long term results from a mix of outreach, selective guest posting, and digital PR. The common factor is relevance and real traffic, not just metrics. A single contextual link from a trusted niche site usually outperforms dozens of generic placements.

AI helps speed up research and content workflows, but I wouldn’t rely on automated link building itself. Common mistake is scaling links faster than the site’s content and authority naturally justify, which makes the profile look unnatural over time.
