I've got a client who is looking for an additional service-area GBP. I'm considering advising against it, as I don’t believe this will work long term. My concern is that if the account gets flagged, there's no realistic way to recover it, and the investment would be for nothing. Am I wrong in thinking this? Are purchased GBPs a viable long-term strategy?

Purchased Google Business Profile listings are inherently risky—ownership signals, history mismatches, and verification inconsistencies get flagged sooner or later. Once suspended, recovery is difficult unless you can prove legitimate control and real-world presence. They might work short term, but they’re not a reliable long-term asset compared to building and verifying a profile properly.

Purchased gbps usually dont last long term honestly google is strict and they often get flagged or suspended especially if details are inconsistent or reused its risky for clients better to build and verify listings properly for stability and long term results

Purchased GBPs are inherently unstable, sooner or later they tend to get flagged or suspended.

Newly created GMBs won't stick longer than 30 days. But I am claiming GMBs that are abandoned and only created for lead gen marketing for about 6 months. They seems to work for long term but with the recent Google update, they are also getting suspended for restricted categories like loan agency, insurance, plumber. So if your client's niche is like tree services, pest control, electrician, etc, then your claimed GMB will work in the long term.

For spammy niches like roofing, lock smith or whatever longevity isn’t really that important anyway, usually you blast out a dozen GMBs and keep track of which one drops just to re-list it.

People are so against buying GMBs when in reality they are just buying from the wrong suppliers. The longevity of the listing depends on what method was used to create it.
