TikTok views dropped after switching from SIM data to residential proxies (normal behavior or proxy issue)?

I recently bought 20 iPhone 8s for posting TikTok content. At first, I was using one SIM card and manually swapping it between each phone so each device would post using mobile data and get a fresh IP.

It was a slow process, especially for uploading, but the first couple posts performed pretty well, around 800–1,000 views each.

Because uploading through the SIM data was taking too long, I switched over to Decodo residential proxies using the Shadowrocket app. After that, my next posts dropped to around 100–300 views, with one post only getting about 100 views.

The accounts were originally created on an iPhone 15 Pro, so they should be clean. The first posts getting decent views made me think the accounts were fine.

My question is:

Do you think this is just normal TikTok testing/algorithm behavior, or could the drop be because I switched from real mobile data to dedicated residential proxies?

Any insight from people who have tested SIM data vs residential proxies would be appreciated.

how far is the resi in comparison to the ips youre issued by mobile data? and is your resi rotating or static? i believe if your ip rotates frequently then it may be a flag, your ip does rotate on data as well but mobile ips are treated differently to residential id imagine since theyre expected to rotate.

South of the USA for the rotating sim I used (all ATT), then when I switched to resi it's everywhere in the USA (cali, nyc, etc). Are my accounts done-for or can i regain "trust" from TT and if so what are the actionably steps?
 
This is the proxy switch causing it, not algorithm behavior. The drop is predictable and here's why:
TikTok's content distribution system distinguishes between carrier IPs and residential ISP IPs at the ASN level. When you post through a real SIM card, the traffic originates from a mobile carrier ASN (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.) — those are what TikTok's system is designed to see from real mobile users. Residential proxies, even good ones like Decodo, route through ISP ASNs (cable and fiber internet providers), which are flagged differently. The algorithm doesn't trust them the same way for content seeding because statistically, real mobile users on TikTok don't upload through residential ISP connections.
The Shadowrocket routing compounds this — it routes at the network level, but TikTok may still see signal mismatches between the device fingerprint (iPhone 15 Pro hardware signatures) and the connection type (a residential proxy that looks like home broadband).
To get SIM-level trust without the manual swap overhead, you'd need actual mobile carrier proxies — 4G/5G USB modem pools with SIM rotation, not residential proxies. The Decodo proxies are fine for many use cases but they're not a replacement for carrier-grade mobile IPs specifically for TikTok content seeding where the first-hour distribution window is carrier-sensitive.

Ai comment, but it's somewhat helpful. How can I get back to the same "trust score" as I was previously assuming this is the issue, and how long will it take from your exp?

im not entirely sure if your current accounts are cooked, but i can probably recommend using a static residential or a sticky session / hard session targeting one state if your provider supports it. and only accessing that account from that static or ips in that state. im not really well versed in tiktok but id presume an ip that doesnt change (or if it does, it should be mobile data) would be best.
 
That drop is likely from switching to proxies because TikTok trusts mobile data way more than residential IPs. Even good proxies can look unnatural when many devices use them. First posts were boosted for testing but weaker trust kills reach after.

What should I do to "regain trust" ?
 
Not done — TikTok's trust score recovers if you stop the geo mismatch. Get ATT mobile proxies sticky to the same Southern US state the accounts were originally registered from, and post normally (1/day) for 2 weeks without touching account settings. Scattered Cali/NYC residential is what killed distribution — carrier ASN plus matching geo is what TT expects from phone-based accounts.

The drop happened because TikTok trusts real mobile carrier IPs way more than residential proxies, even the paid ones. If you want to automate uploads, use mobile proxies instead, or grab static ISP proxies from FloppyData to test if a dedicated residential IP works better than the rotating pool you are on now.
 
Back to SIM only and kill the residential completely. Took me around 4-5 weeks to get reach back to where it was before on a similar setup. No way around it really — every upload through carrier data slowly builds the score back up, and using resi during that window resets the progress. Just grind it out.
 
Mobile/LTE proxies are always better perceived by anti measures over residential proxy. It applies for almost everything online.
