Why Do Some YouTube Shorts Get Stuck at 0 Views?

I’ve been noticing this more often lately with YouTube Shorts.
Some videos get no traction at all, some reach around 10K-15K views and stop, while others make it to 30K and then suddenly die out.
It makes me wonder if these are actual limits, or if YouTube is testing videos in different stages before pushing them wider.

From what I’ve noticed:

0 views:Usually weak/new channel trust, reused content signals, or poor first seconds.

15K stall:People swipe too early. Hook wasn’t strong enough.

30K stall:Video did okay, but not strong enough to push wider audience.

So here we can learn:
  • stronger first 1-2 sec
  • faster pacing
  • better payoff ending
  • stop posting random niches
  • copy what already works in your niche
A lot of people think Shorts is luck, but usually there’s a reason.

Anyone else seeing these same issues lately?

The 15k stall is the most frustrating one. It’s like the algorithm gives you a taste of traffic and then pulls the plug because your swiped away rate dropped by 2%.
In my experience, if you're hitting 0 views, it’s 90% a technical issue—either your device fingerprint is dirty or you're using trash residential IPs that have been flagged a million times.
One thing I'd add to your list: Re-uploading works. If a video gets stuck at 0 or 15k and I know the quality is there, I’ll tweak the metadata, change the first frame, and re-upload 24 hours later. Sometimes it just needs a second roll of the dice to find the right seed audience.
Anyone else notice that the 'Watched vs Swiped' metric needs to be at least 75/25 now to even have a chance at 100k+?

The 15K and 30K stalls are usually linked to the 'Viewed vs. Swiped away' metric hitting a specific threshold that stops the algorithm's push. If that ratio drops below 60-70% as the audience expands, YouTube simply stops testing the video to save server bandwidth for higher-retention content

Yeah I’ve faced this too, some of my Shorts just don’t cross 0 views, usually happens when the video doesn’t get initial push, feels more like a trust or distribution issue than content itself.

i feel it is about the originality of a video first and then the quality of a channel too. For starters, i heard, if your video is really high quality, roughly try and post it in 3 different youtube channels or more and see if any one picks. Also, do not really post shorts on a channel that is really fresh, had no engagement before and that has long videos

I have noticed something similar with YouTube shorts. It feels like videos get tested in small batches first, and if engagement is good, they get pushed further. Usually the first few seconds and retention seem to make the biggest difference.

I've noticed that to reach the 15k to 30k mark, there are thresholds that YouTube's algorithm evaluates based on viewer feedback and interaction. If your video fails to engage the audience who have already scrolled past it, it will be deemed ineffective, reducing interaction and visibility, and consequently, it will stop at a certain level.

YouTube testing in waves and pushing more only if retention and rewatches stay strong, most stalls come from drop in watch time not hard caps

How can I get more than 1.5k views?

On 1chanell i get 0views
On another channel, I get a few views
On other chanell i get 400-1.7k views. Will some video go viral in the future or not? I have uploaded 30+ short videos; a few have 0 or a few views but mostly is 600-1700views. I upload getting views for a few hours or 24 hours, and that's it, no more views

If people watch past the first few seconds and don’t drop off early it keeps getting tested wider. If not, it just fades out.

So you re-upload to the same channel or a different one?

same channel. i don't see any point in moving it unless the channel is shadowbanned or suppressed. i just kill the old upload, change the MD5 hash and re-upload with a different first frame. it's all about catching a new wave of viewers in the same niche.

Hi! I also work with YouTube, and I can share what worked for me.

First of all, your Gmail account should be properly “warmed up” before posting. Consistency is also key - post regularly. That’s what brought me results: at first I was getting around 3K views, but after posting daily in the same niche, my views grew to a stable 60K+ and are still increasing. I’ve only been doing this for about a month.

The most important thing is the first seconds of the video - you need a strong hook that grabs attention immediately. Use something that triggers curiosity or emotion. Also focus on trending topics, keep videos short and engaging, and avoid unnecessary length, otherwise retention drops and people swipe away.

Another big factor is engagement — reply actively to comments. But don’t just reply, try to write answers that encourage others to join the conversation and comment as well.

By the way, what niche are you in?

These tiers definitely aren't random, bro, they represent YouTube's "seed audience" testing phases where the algorithm measures your retention against broader and broader groups
In my opinion, a stall at 30K usually means your swipe-away rate was too high for the general feed, even if your niche audience loved the initial hook

I'm experiencing more stress when creating videos that are longer than 10 videos without getting any views.

Yes I’v seen the same pattern, Shorts seem to test in stages based on early retention and swipe rate. If the hook and watch time don’t hold, it just stops getting pushed further.

Mostly happens when video not pushed by algorithm, maybe due to low quality or reuse content. Also sometimes new accounts take time, keep posting and it usually starts getting views.

Shorts getting stuck at 0 views usually isn’t random it’s a signal that something in the upload, distribution, or content is blocking initial testing by YouTube.
The reason behind
The Video Was Never Properly Distributed,
Not Recognized as a Short,
Copyright or Content Flags,
Duplicate or Reused Content,
