Regarding trustworthiness with the seller, communicate clearly, keep a record of exchanges and start with small orders, this will help you avoid many risks.

I think for an e-commerce store owner, the most important thing is knowing what you are doing. I have seen too many people bring me a pile of products to ask for prices. Transparent pricing won't satisfy them, and it's just a test. Then next week they continue to send me hundreds of product images to seek quotes. This sales strategy makes me feel that they are unlikely to have sustainable growth, because they can't find their niche market and competitive edge!

most people who dm you with "guaranteed methods" or "proven systems" are selling you something that stopped working years ago. pick one method, stick with it long enough to actually learn it, and be skeptical of anyone promising fast results

Make sure you can sell the product for 3x of product cost if you're running paid ads.
