I just want to vent out because I'm super frustrated after so many years of trying to make any side income. I've been trying for 20 years, failed every single time so far. All that "keep pushing, maybe next step is the right one" got so old. I don't even believe it anymore. In those 20 years earned like $4k and that was a scam business, so I quit it since it was fucking scam.

The only way I earned was by working a 9-5 job and that's it. It's not like I don't know what I want to do. I know which industry I like, I know what my skills are and what I can do, but nothing seems to be working.

I've had different projects, long ones, short ones and they all ended up the same. At this point I don't even know which way to go or what to try anymore. I'm just a regular guy, working 9-5, no rich parents, no rich background, no big resources. I can only rely on myself and that's it. I feel like throwing my laptop in the wall.

Nice vent, just don't throw the laptop yet

Have you tracked how much you invested on how much you earnt individually per project?

Nop, but I'm definitely in minus. I didn't invest much per project since I can't

so what are your major skills ?

You know you can't compete based on your name with western living cost against asian "uneducated" workforce on low skills niches

What kind of programing skills.
A programer can be anything and nothing.
What exactly are you good in programing and which languages are you using.

PHP, Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, Manticore, Redis, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Javascript, Flutter...

20 years? No offence but it's either you lack focus or you are doing it wrong.

You got the answer there to your whole problem. Also now knowing that you are a programmer I'm suspicious that your commercial skills are low. It is likely that you have not done any cold calling, cold emailing or cold pretty much anyrthing on a big scale. You are not going succeed going where everyone goes. Over the years I've found that even forums like this, reddit or whatever place you find talking about money making methods are more of a motivational source than actually a knowledge fulfilment pool. In fact I always say to the people around me, that it's impossible to get good money applying techniques or theories you learnt in the classic curriculum places (universities, course sites, etc). Basically because those are ponds where millions of people are drinking from, nothing bad but nothing special.

Hey, I feel you. I’ve been there too. grinding for years on side projects, trying everything, only to hit dead ends. It’s exhausting, and honestly, hearing “just keep pushing” after so long feels empty.

One thing I’ve noticed is that most people succeed when they stop trying to do everything at once and pick one specific path that matches both their skills and a clear demand. It’s less about hustling harder, more about focusing smarter.

Maybe take a step back, pick one small thing you can start today that’s actually realistic, and treat it like a tiny experiment instead of a life-or-death bet. Even small wins build momentum, and after a few months, you can scale it.

You’re not alone in feeling frustrated! the fact that you know your skills and interests is already huge. Many people never even figure that out. The trick is finding a way to match what you’re good at with something people actually pay for, and start tiny.

Venting is fine. Rage at the laptop if you need to . just don’t give up on yourself. You’ve got the clarity most people don’t. That counts for a lot.

You have to stick to ONE thing, EVERYTHING you do everyday compounds, 3 hours a day working on something is 90 hours a month, 1080 hours a year. The time only goes quicker as we age.

You need to study Marketing. To make it simple for you:

MARKET (customers) + ING (communication) = MARKETING

First, you need to study in depth your audience to find their pain points and then communicate the value of your product or service via communication formats such as text, image, video.

Once you master communication, you can do anything: sales, copywriting, blogs. vlogs.

I am assuming you are more into technical side. You need to master communication or find a partner who is great at that and you focus on the technical side.
