I tried Pinclicks but their data seems inaccurate. On manually typing those keyword on my Pinterest dashboard i get totally different results. What are working strategies?

There are tools to use to do keyword research research, or you could opt for Pinterest trends. To the best of knowledge, Pinterest trends doesn't show search volume. It only shows growth.

What niche you working on?
Home decor
In my opinion, you should trust the data in the Pinterest Ads Dashboard It's live data. Pinclicks should only be used for niche ideas and not for finalizing your keyword list.
Haven't heard about that. Will search on that. Thanks. I was strategizing my workflow based on Pinclicks's keyword rankings

I have tried pinterest trends. Main reason I used Pinclicks is cause of competitor analysis and their ranked keywords and it seems i don't fully understand how it all works yet, or it isn't working as advertised.

I don't use Pinclicks so I can't tell you if it works as advertised. I myself own a Pinterest keyword research tool so it'll be wrong of me to either promote in a section I'm not supposed to(ex. this thread) or speak ill of a competitor's tool. That being said, I don't know if Pinclicks is working as advertised.
All I try to do is explain to you how to Pinterest keyword research work.

You either use keyword research tool that provide search volume or use trends. You made mention of searching on Pinterest's dashboard, I wonder where that dashboard is located because to the best of my knowledge Pinterest doesn't directly provide volume data.

Pinterest dashboard as in just searching on personal pinterest account. That wasn't dashboard per say, my bad. And yeah it doesn't have no volume data.

third party tools lag pinterest data use pinterest search autosuggest trends and test pins fast to read real signals
I needed to make it fast, automate it in bulk. Guess we need to find a solution

Pinterest Ads dashboard only shows you impressions and engagement that your ads get when keyword targeting. It's not the volume data associated with how many times a keyword gets searched per month. Both completely different things. If an ad gets lots of impressions for a given keyword, yes, it's an indicator of the popularity of the keyword but the actual number isn't the same as search volume.

Pinclicks is still working for me, but go for low competition keywords and use the intent instead of using the direct keyword.

Are you able to elaborate a bit more or give an example when you say "use the intent instead of the direct keyword"?

Using intent as in intent keyword version of main keyword? and how do you usually get keywords competition data

THIS. And also focus more on the broad audience you can target with your keyword.

I tried before this tool pinsearch . co and the results is good for me. It has a free trial so you can try it risk free. And i am not affiliated with them. I just tried it a while ago and now saw your thread here from the forum newsletter and wanted to help.

You’re not imagining it — tools like Pinclicks often don’t match reality on Pinterest. That’s because Pinterest doesn’t expose clean keyword data like Google does.
So the winning approach is: use Pinterest itself as your primary data source, and treat tools as rough hints only.

Hi man, what's your objetive? Do you have an online store¿

Pinclicks still works on my end, but the real edge comes from targeting low-competition queries and optimizing for user intent instead of exact keywords.

yeah third party tools like pinclicks or keysearch are almost always inaccurate because pinterest doesn't actually have an open api for search volume, so those tools just scrape old data or weirdly guess based on google traffic which completely ruins your strategy. the only actual working method in 2026 is just using pinterest's own native tools manually, specifically the pinterest ads keyword planner where you pretend to set up a dummy ad campaign just to see the exact relative search volumes and related terms directly from their own backend. you literally just combine that ads data with the colored guided search bubbles that pop up when you type a seed keyword into the normal search bar, and then cross-reference it with the native pinterest trends tool to see when the topic spikes seasonally, it takes a little more time to build your list this way but it is literally the only source of true search intent data on the platform.

Maybe I'm being too trivial, but I just type in the keyword I need, then look at the related words for that query, check out the pins in my feed, and use those to keep searching
