Looking for strategies to grow X accounts from scratch, i always find the same tips:
"post quality content, be consistent, interact with followers to create a sense of community" and all the other stuff we probably already know or read everywhere.

Now, as has happened to me on IG and TG, in my case, i've always found other ways to get that initial boost that no one talks about but is absolutely necessary to start, since you can't start posting daily content if no one is following you yet.

On Instagram, for example, the strategy i've used in past at the beginning has always been follow/unfollow targeted users for the first few weeks, gradually increasing the number of followers while being careful not to get shadowbanned.

So, being new to X, i'd like to know what strategies are typically used to gain the first 500-1k followers, which will help me try to make the first posts go viral and start the famous "snowballing" process by posting content daily.

For now, by observing what other people are doing and replicating their strategies, I've managed to gain 113 followers in 3 days using "SDV/FB," strats and those typical strategies i saw that wprks. In the future, i'll have to delete all those tweets to start uploading content of real value, but i'd like to know what other strategies you use to grow accounts from scratch.

This one is working so far but im sure there is something else to boost the followers from zero.
Let's see if we can all exchange valuable information and grow together!

the first 500–1k usually comes from strategic replies, not posting. Find 5 mid-sized accounts in your niche and consistently drop high-value replies in the first 30 - 60 mins of their tweets. On X, replies are distribution. and do threads together, quote each other with insights, or run small spaces. Borrowed authority -> SDV farming. The algorithm pushes engagement clusters, not random follow trains

forget followers on X these days.
That metric means nothing on social networks.
They are all algorithm based.
I have account with less than 10k followers with more engagement and bio link clicks than old accounts with 500k followers
It's all about going viral.
Depending on your niche, ragebait is the way to go.

having said that, "post quality content, be consistent, interact with followers to create a sense of community"" and don't engage in blackhat stuff like proxies etc.

can you please explain SDV farming?

Follow for follow and SDV gives fake momentum but kills long term reach because your audience is low quality and does not engage

Better approach is to hijack existing audiences through replies to viral posts niche targeting and high signal content so your first 500 followers are actually useful for growth

Growing on X from zero in 2026 is definitely possible but it requires a different approach than Instagram or TikTok. X rewards strong opinions, valuable insights, and consistent engagement more than visual content.

Here is what has worked for building a brand presence on X based on my experience in the luxury travel and digital marketing space:

The initial bootstrap strategy (0 to 500 followers):

1. Reply strategy first - Before you start posting your own content, spend your first two weeks replying to big accounts in your niche with thoughtful, insightful comments. Not generic replies but actual value-added responses that make people click on your profile. This is the fastest way to get initial visibility.

2. Engage in trending conversations - Use the search function to find active discussions in your niche. Jump into conversations where you can add genuine expertise. People will follow you when they see you consistently dropping knowledge.

3. Your profile needs to be optimized - Clear headshot or brand image, compelling bio that tells people exactly what value they get from following you, and a pinned tweet that showcases your best content.

Scaling from 500 to 5K:

4. Thread game - Long-form threads that break down complex topics into digestible tweets still perform incredibly well on X. Write one high-quality thread per week that people want to bookmark and share.

5. Post original data and real experiences - On X, screenshots of real results, revenue numbers, and behind-the-scenes insights get massive engagement. People are tired of generic advice.

6. Consistent posting schedule - 3-5 tweets per day plus 10-15 quality replies. Use scheduling tools to maintain consistency.

7. Find your content pillars - Pick 3 topics you will consistently post about. This helps the algorithm understand what audience to show your content to.

The key difference with X compared to other platforms: personality and strong takes matter more than production quality. Be authentic, share your real opinions, and do not be afraid to be slightly controversial.

is it same for NSFW accounts?

I am still new to X, but what's working a bit for me is replying to bigger accounts in my niche.
If you leave useful or slightly different replies early on trending posts, you can get profile visits and followers without doing follow/ unfollow. I've gained some initial traction that way.
