With organic reach constantly changing, is it smarter to focus on building a page audience or growing niche groups for monetization

Facebook now gives more preference and coverage to personal pages. I recommend developing them, because I notice that groups currently have very weak organic reach.

To me, groups seem better for engagement, but pages are still useful if you want long-term brand growth.

I've noticed that Facebook currently suggests a lot of content on the homepage, and my friends can easily create posts that reach millions of people and attract thousands of followers every day. However, I find that it doesn't generate as many potential customers or as proactively as advertising.

I recommend developing personal pages, as I've noticed that existing groups have very weak organic reach. They don't identify potential customers and therefore can't generate revenue.

Niche groups are the best especially if they resonate with a characteristic/characteristics of a person and/or people. For example you could create a group about European people looking to travel. European people will get in and as long as you give value to your audience (for example the best hotels to stay in Thailand etc) they are going to share your valuable information with their friends, their friends will check it out, invite their friends of friends etc and your groups will grow... After that you only need to provide them with a relevant product and/or service and you can monetize them. A facebook page on the other is harder to go viral because you can only invite friends and people must be ACTIVELY looking for your solution to their problems. Therefore groups are better in my opinion.

It depends on what exactly you want. If you want engagement then groups are better.

Given the current situation, focusing on building a following for the page still has greater growth potential.

groups better for engagement and community, pages still ok for brand but won’t get much organic reach without ads so focus groups if u want real activity and monetization.

It really depends on your niche and how easily you can grow a Facebook group around it.

From my experience, Facebook isn’t as strict with automation tools compared to some other platforms, especially when used carefully. If you already have established profiles, adding members to a group can scale relatively fast, particularly since Facebook still allows inviting friends directly.

The key part, though, isn’t just adding people.

It’s engagement.

If members don’t interact, the group becomes inactive very quickly. You need consistent posts, discussions, polls, or some kind of value that keeps people participating.

Personally, I still think Facebook Groups are underrated for organic growth if managed properly. They allow you to build a community rather than just push traffic.

That said, I wouldn’t rely on one channel only.

Any serious business should aim for multi-channel promotion, Facebook groups, email lists, Telegram, Reddit, maybe even Discord, depending on the niche.

Diversification reduces risk and increases stability long term.

Just my view based on what I’ve seen working.

The current trend is to develop teams, but this only happens once a year; developing a website to make money remains the most sustainable approach.

If you can do both simultaneously, that's great.

Interesting topic I think both Pages and Groups still have value, but it really depends on your goals. Pages are great for brand visibility and SEO, while Groups tend to build tighter engagement and community trust. Combining both strategically like using a Page to drive traffic to a Group can often work best. Curious what others are seeing in terms of reach and conversion?

Why don't we combine the two to leverage their strengths? I think that would be better than choosing only one of the two.

In reality, groups are still an ideal place to build a quality community and earn money sustainably; however, for maximum effectiveness, it's best to combine both groups and fan pages to maximize their value.

Don't be fooled by the inflated "million views" on your homepage; massive engagement from personal content often lacks direction and doesn't proactively generate revenue like advertising (Ads). In reality, current groups have become "dead zones" with extremely low organic reach and vague customer bases. The smartest strategy right now is to focus on building a reputable personal profile to gain trust, then use the power of Ads to proactively "hunt" for and convert the right potential customers that organic content can never reach.

Growing both is a brilliant move because it allows you to capture a massive new audience through your page while fostering deep, profitable loyalty within your Group.
