Hello my friends, how are you? I hope you're doing well.
In a recent project, I helped an Indian fashion client boost and grow her Instagram following – starting from scratch. From zero followers to 5,200 in just 30 days. And the budget? It was very tight – everything had to be done within ₹2,000. It was difficult, but not impossible.
Now, growing an Indian audience can be a bit tricky. People will sometimes follow and sometimes unfollow, engagement is low, and if the content isn't relatable, it's hard to go viral. So, I used a few tricks that worked.
1. Experimenting with Reels Timing and Format:
I started posting Reels between 7–9 PM IST. This is when people are free and scrolling. Short Reels (10–15 seconds), trending audio, and Hinglish captions helped a lot. One Reel even crossed 40,000+ views without any paid boost.
2. Manual Engagement Pods:
Avoiding paid engagement groups, I manually created a small pod with 8–10 accounts in similar niches. Within 30 minutes of each post, everyone liked/commented on each other's posts. This signaled to the algorithm that the content was engaging.
3. Localized Content Strategy:
I removed generic captions and told the client to add a touch of Indian flair. Instead of "OOTD," I started writing "Shaadi look ready" or "Desi glam feels." The audience found it relatable, and shares and saves increased.
Results:
• Followers: 0 → 5,200 in 30 days
• Avg. Reel Views: 300 → 15k
• Engagement Rate: 0.8% → 3.4%
I'm still testing new tactics. What have you guys done for the Indian audience? If there are any underrated hacks, please share them so I can learn something new.
If anyone knows which low-cost providers worked best for me, I can share my experience.
