Editorial links (news/blogs), .edu/.gov, and guest posts are the strongest. Then Web 2.0 & social bookmarks, next PBNs & forums, and last comments & Tier 2/3 links.

Types of Backlinks

  1. ******** – These are the most valuable for SEO, as they pass link equity (or “link juice”) to the target page. They directly help improve search engine rankings.
  2. Nofollow – These links don’t pass SEO value or authority. They are often used for advertising or user-generated content. It’s important to check whether a backlink has the rel="nofollow" attribute.
  3. Sponsored – These links are used to mark paid placements or sponsored content, such as banner ads or promotional posts. They may pass limited SEO value, but are generally not recommended for organic link-building strategies.

The higher the weight, the higher the price. I think that backlinks that are too cheap are often of lower value.

Social signals don’t pass much SEO juice, but they help with trust and indexing.

Nothin beats news press release backlinks. Google loves news.

Profile links, forum links, and social bookmarks are usually low-value - more for diversity than ranking.

True — there are tons of backlink types out there!
From my experience, the “weight” mostly depends on authority + relevance + natural placement.
For example, a single niche guest post link from a DA 50 site can outperform 50 social or profile links.
Web 2.0 and Tier links help build structure, but the real power usually comes from contextual backlinks.

What’s your experience so far — have you tested any specific backlink types that gave you results?

I’d focus on relevant editorial backlinks from trusted websites rather than chasing link types. There’s no fixed weight for each category, and quality, relevance and natural link placement matter more than the label.
