I`m running meta Ads right now and I have a really pesky competitor who is going out of their way to click my ads go onto my landing page and fill out fake leads

its killing my ad spend and my opportunities to capture real leads

they are not just doing a few times they are going daily and filling out multiple fake leads

i run ads on meta/instagram that send to a landing page and and i made the landing page multiple form to encourage them to just stop but they continue to do this

is there way to get their Ips and block ?

Been there , especially painful if you’re running lead gen on tight budget. Curious, are they real users or using bot traffic. I’ve seen people use Meta, Event Match Quality data to detect spam and adjust optimization too.

That's a tough situation constantly dealing with a competitor deliberately sabotaging your Meta ads. It's incredibly frustrating when your ad spend is being wasted like that. Getting their IPs and blocking them could be a partial solution. There are ways to capture IP addresses associated with form submissions usually through your landing page platform or website analytics. Once you have those IPs you can block them through your website's firewall or even within Meta's ad settings although IP blocking there can be a bit hit or miss. However keep in mind that IPs can change so it might be a game of whack-a-mole. The community might suggest exploring more robust bot detection methods for your forms things like reCAPTCHA or other anti-bot measures. You could also consider implementing honeypots which are form fields invisible to humans that when filled out indicate bot activity.

I have been in this situation, very annoying, they are harassing and jealous

Use an email verification service and fire conversions through CAPI only if it's a real conversion (from the CRM).
You can also exclude all the LP visits from your campaign, ot run them separately in a remarketing campaign on super low budget so the idiot keep thinking he got you.

Do you know where he is located?

You can block out showing your ad in that location.

You can't block IPs on Meta Ads, but you can block spammers by recording IPs on landing pages and using Cloudflare, reCAPTCHA or honeypot to prevent sending fake leads.

You can't get IP if you use Meta's form.
Solution: use a separate landing page + external form (like Jotform, Typeform...) to record IP and block manually.
You can add reCAPTCHA, filter abnormal behavior, or use anti-click fraud software like ClickCease

Add smart Input Validation
Measures Field
Phone Number - Required country format
- Blocks fake prefixes (ex: TextNow, Google Voice)
- Can integrate SMS OTP verification
Email - Format verification
- Block temporary emails like @mailinator.com, @Fake.com, etc.
Full Name - Minimum 2 characters, no numbers or strange characters

It is true that sometimes advertising often encounters situations where competitors intentionally click on ads and fill in fake potential customer information, which will not only increase advertising costs but also distort quantitative data about the effectiveness of the campaign.

Sorry to hear that! You can’t get the exact IP from Meta ads directly, but you can use tracking tools like Google Tag Manager or server-side logging to capture visitor IPs on your landing page. Once identified, you can block those IPs via your web host or firewall.

UPDATE:

for those that care or want to learn from me

i was able to stop this competitor from filling out fake leads by adding a OTP at the end of my website where they fill out their information this was the only way i was able to stop them i used twillio to verify the OTP which blocks Voip & virtual numbers from getting SMS codes. my leads all require a one time passcode to submit the competitor is still trying to submit fake leads they have tried 11 different virtual number companies but haven`t been able to get thru my protection

@xcodes help me code it into my landing page i worked with him on a few projects he is the real deal

You also go to their page to fill in false clues about yourself.

Google reCAPTCHA helps verify that users are human, preventing bots from automatically filling in information. Version v3 works in the background, without causing inconvenience to users. However, it should be noted that reCAPTCHA cannot completely eliminate fake information from real users.

In this case, it is very difficult to solve. You can only block such IPs to limit them, but you cannot make them disappear completely. You can also change the domain to see how it goes.

this is difficult, unfortunately you can't block ip on meta ads

To prevent competitors or bots from filling out fake information on your landing page, using CAPTCHAs, email authentication, security questions, and anti-bot tools are important measures. Additionally, user behavior tracking and data analytics will help you detect suspicious behavior and protect your customer information.
