Most companies will not let us advertise with them and blogs will not respond. So I'm having trouble trying to understand what methods would be at my disposal? is blackhat options my only options? Would love any input

The best method to rank better is to get quality backlinks from big media properties.

I'm talking about editorial links.

I'm not talking about press releases that you pay for to get published and produce only no-follow links.

Those are generally speaking worthless.

The best PR approach is to find a hot trending topic involving cannabis and issue a press release that piggybacks on that trend.

For example, there's a lot of health issues that are cropping up, supposedly supported by various medical studies.

Become part of that ongoing drama by issuing your press release and citing other studies that contradict the later studies.

Do you see where I am coming at?

It's all about drama hijacking.

Press releases are the cheapest and most effective way to get your brand in front of writers who can then write stories about what you said on your release and link to your brand.

I would suggest you advertise it on Google Ads or Microsoft Ads if you want instant traffic while working on your SEO.

What Blackbeans said, only you can scale it down to see that it works at a low level. Take cannabis (or whatever niche) keywords for your site or blog, go to Google News, and do a search for those terms tied to a news story or trend. You'll get a list of recent stories that can serve as the basis for creating your own blog entry or guest post. The title should be about that news item.

As a guest post, you can even find some cheap gig seller who will publish it on a decent looking d0-follow site with good metrics. Now you have an url that directly links to your site, that isn't associated with a no-no topic, that you can use as THE url to use in getting d0-follow editorial level links to that news story. In other words, if your niche is peanut butter but it's 'forbidden,' create content about peanut butter and jelly on a big boy domain, that points to your peanut butter niche.
