VPS for Edit Videos

Hi

What is the cheapest option for a editing video vps?


- 4 cores and 8 gb of ram, will be enought to render a music video along 90 minutos max?

I havnt got money to buy a vps with a graphic card, there are so expensive; and my notebook is getting so hot with the arrive of the summer, and the fan is exhaust

I would go with dedicated server. VPS = Virtual Private Server....

rendering won't freaking works on VPS. they lags

I used a few dedicated servers for editing videos with Adobe Premiere Pro, and then encoded them. They worked much faster than your average PC.

Couple a pointers to your question.

First, you never mentioned what software you are using to do the edits, making it near impossible to guess render times when combined with us not knowing anything about the music video (graphics? Effects? 4K?).

Second of all, Adobe Media Encoder for example doesn't rely on your GPU too much, unless there are heavy graphics, effects and animations in the video.

Then to the question.

It's far from ideal, but I do know that Media Encoder does work on a Windows VPS at least.

Still, I wouldn't do it. The type of VPS you'd need quickly becomes more expensive over time than buying a good CPU, throwing in a cheap graphics card and buying second hand PC components to finish the build.

Yoy can build a decent editing PC for around 800$ (even less if you're willing to go all in with the research and bargain hunting), so comparing the performance and monthly cost to a Windows VPS, in under a year you'd be far better off due to the fact that you'd actually own the PC and wouldn't need to keep paying for it.

Then again, if this is a one off time you're rendering something, then just grab a Windows VPS for a month and try it.
