Need to Make Money Before January 8th

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, but I didn't think it quite fit anywhere else.

I need to make some money before January 8th when I will have just about the only vacation I will ever be able to afford (and I can only "afford" it because it was a honeymoon gift). Anyway, to make the trip really memorable, I would like to make money before we leave on January 8th. I am really good at rewriting articles, copy writing, posting to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I am not good at navigating the job sites, as my only job ever has been for a family friend for the past almost 10 years now. I also do not have a lot of social skills, which is why I work at home. However, I do good work, and I can even give you references if need be.

I have very little money now because my work contract got majorly reduced due to the company's finances.

Your best bet would be to join Freelancer & Upworks and start bidding on microjobs that fits your skills. Usually new accounts have a tough time but bid lower than expected and someone may hire you.

Tell me more about yourself in this thread, as well as a rough estimate of how many words you think you can write in a day, and how much money you are looking to earn before the 8th.

You should check out the "real ways to earn money online" website. Its a spammy name, but the site is great. The owner is a gem.

She has everything organized by job type and she tests and reviews everything. Look for gigs that offer automatic approval. The pay is really low, but if you want to make quick cash that is one way to do it.

Otherwise, Amazon turk is good for $15/day if you can stand to work at it for several hours. More if you can work longer, of course. You can cash out anytime, provided you have $10 in your account I think.

Wow, I wasn't expecting such rude replies. I seriously have no idea how to navigate the job world, because my first job was given to me by a family friend who knew my writing skills. Then, when I moved, they offered me a work-from-home job which has been great for the past five years until my contract got reduced. I don't really have any experience dealing with employers other than people I have know for years. And my lack of social skills doesn't help. But, I'd like to think with my almost ten years of work experience that I do an ok job. As far as my rate, what I make now averages to $10 an article, and my articles are anywhere from 100 to 500 or so words. I'm not worried about the amount of money I can make at this point, I would just like to do some work to step outside of my comfort zone and know that I don't have to depend on family friends for work, because obviously I can't now because I'm making less than half of what I was a couple months ago.

Sherbert Hoover- I was rewriting 10 news articles a day for months, but now it is only 2 news articles a day. When I did 10, I could write them from between 4-8 hours depending on if most of them were short/long articles. For just 2 articles, it only takes me an hour or two.

You need to fix this. Work on yourself once you return from your honeymoon. Talk to @alwaysinvisible. She is also a writer, also a female, but is extremely kind and is probably the person I would trust most on here as far as high-level writing skills as a career. Her or @Jared255.

If you want my honest opinion, when you return from your vacation you should try and get a part-time job somewhere doing some form of customer service. I have heard that being a barista at Starbucks is lucrative and people are generally nice compared to other positions. Work from home is a great gig, but lacks a lot of the social effect. Much like homeschooling children.

I spent a couple years at a Subway making sandwiches for assholes, and then a couple years at a massive hotel, getting some of the most rigorous customer service training in the USA, and came out the other end as someone who people notice knows how to deal with and talk to people. Writing is written communication, face-to-face is kicking it up a notch and doing it live.

Again, see above. Customer service will force you to talk to strangers and develop your social skills. Worked wonders for me.

You have no baseline at which to measure that metric.

As far as my rate, what I make now averages to $10 an article, and my articles are anywhere from 100 to 500 or so words.

$10 for a 100 word article is $10 per 100 words. $10 for a 500 word article is $2 per 100 words. That varies wildly. Give me a number. I'm not as much interested in your life story as I am to discern your writing style. As you can see, I can write just fine. I have taken incredibly advanced writing courses from recognizable authors and journalists. What I don't have is 50 hours a day to write articles. That's where I outsource.

I'm not worried about the amount of money I can make at this point, I would just like to do some work to step outside of my comfort zone and know that I don't have to depend on family friends for work, because obviously I can't now because I'm making less than half of what I was a couple months ago.

Hopefully I can assist with that in the short term.

He probably just means that a lot of people come on this forum looking for get rich quick schemes - which is not what you are doing. You are looking for freelance work. But the way you phrased the title is similar to the way the "get rich quick" types phrase it. I think he meant to warn you that others might misinterpret your intentions and you should be prepared for people to troll you. I truly don't think he meant it to be rude - but if you don't know the context, it can seem that way.

PS - @Sherbert Hoover is very well respected on this forum. You should take him up on his generous offer.

Thank you very much for the offer, and I would like to take you up on it, but I would feel more comfortable if you didn't pay me until I complete the work so you have a chance to look it over and make sure it meets your/your company's needs.

Well the "real" world isn't the place for me either, I guess, because I can't seem to do any other type of work. If I don't at least have this, I have nothing.

If you're trying to make money that quickly, I would just look at NON IM jobs, and try to pick up some local jobs, rather it be snow plowing, or cleaning up yards. Go on craigslist and check some out.

I'd love to clean yards, it would get me in shape. If only it was that easy for me to talk to people. I spent a week raking all the leaves in my yard, and I was sad when the work was done. It's a really good workout, lol.

I have social anxiety too, and I completely understand how you feel, but do you try to do something about it? Actually, sherberts suggested you to go out of your comfort zone and this is one of the most effective way to overcome SA. If this is hard for you, take baby steps, but never stop moving and just saying that it will be impossible for you. When you find way to make money online, in which I really believe you will, you might consider going to therapst, taking meds, or something that will help you. It's really hard to live with SA but if you will try and belive in yourself, then yeah, there is no way you will not succeed

LaNet, lately I have been trying to work on my social anxiety. Walking the trash to the trashcan (it's almost a full block away) is a struggle, and when I can do that it's been a good day for me. Also, walking to the mailbox which is even further than the trashcan is a feat for me. I've been trying to force myself to do these two things a lot more lately. I've also been trying to walk my dog (I have a big yard where she gets plenty of exercise regardless), but she is dog aggressive so I really have to be careful with that. I walked her yesterday and was able to make her listen more with some homemade dog treats I made. My dog is highly intelligent, she just gets super excited anytime she sees another dog/cat. Strangely, she gets along great with my indoor cat. I also live in a somewhat "ghetto" neighborhood, so that only enhances my fears. I moved from the country with a low population to more of an urban setting with a lot more people.
