BHW is penalized by Google?

How can this forum not be ranked for "internet marketing forum"? Or is my local results skewed? Do you guys see BHW for that search?

Also how come the list of related sites is empty? Search for related:blackhatworld.com and it's empty.

What's up? Cuz BHW used to rank really well a few months ago.

Have to remember that @Apricot mass culled a lot of BSTs on the forum etc. Quite a big section would have been locked and lost value in the eyes of Google as they're not 'being used' anymore etc.

That could potently cause a short-term wobble. If anything, bring far more targeted traffic back into the site, rather than lots of generic, long-tailed link building traffic.

It also looks like someone/thing has tried to run a neg-SEO campaign to the site. They've made a few errors when doing it as it well, clearly looks like someone's tried to do Neg-SEO etc...Quite amateur really. one of the top anchor texts to the site is this LOL!! Rookie work

Doubt it will be a massive issue, or skin of admins noses.... Most high-end communities don't bother looking at rankings too much these days, its about traffic

So, let's do a method test. If each of us (all members) go and visit the forum on a daily basis (at least once) by typing "internet marketing forum" in google and then visiting BHW, what do you think will happen in few weeks?

OP - I tried it for several keywords not found in Top 20 even

The null results related:blackhatworld.com query gives me the feeling that BHW has been penalized. Most folks are seeing it on page 4 it seems, that's 40+ down from where it would be naturally.

I've never heard of that #1 ranked forum any way, I confess I'm out of the loop as I don't keep up with all the gurus and forums out there, but those resulks seem strange to me.

I think something's up at Google. I don't think this RankBrain is an improvement over their previous systems. Someone today posted a results page full of www7 and www4 and www1 clones of www that all rank for page 1 for some kw.
