What happens if I post 500 comments and then stop? A few months later, will I still get traffic. This is assuming I am going for a hard to rank keyword and there is no chance of of getting ranked on Google. And assuming my site is pretty thin and the content is filled with affiliate links. I assume for lower competition keywords there is not going to be enough blogs to comment on.

I think they key is constantly commenting on fresh blogs to keep traffic moving up, then when its making money sell it off for profit.
