Best Tool For Checking Keywords Rank

What is the current best tool for checking website rankings of multiple keywords? Preferably free - SERP book looks good based on the trial but seems expensive for what it does.

they are almost all in the same price range. For me, SERPBOOK works good.. from time to time they have tech issues with the updating of ranking and their spyglass however, they are working on it and most often it is fixed after some hours or a day.

Have tried a few of these rank checkers and I always go back to SERPBook!

Authority Labs gives you the feature to track down the list of competitors.
Serpfox is best for small business, indivudual with negotiable prices.

Link Assitant's Rank Tracker (desktop software) is really nice. I got it on their Black Friday special last year for DIRT cheap. I think $99 got a license for their 5 main products. Not sure what the price is not on sale...

Anyway, it does everything you could want it to do, and more. Even does some basic KW competition checks to help you narrow down your research. Pretty sure there is a free version you can try out. Recently, they just shifted their servers to process all KW requests server side through use of their proxies, which means you don't need proxies to check rank any more. The only downside, the best I can tell after a few weeks, is that updating rank takes only slightly longer bc you have to wait on a lot of Captchas to be solved from shared IPs.

And, as I'm typing this I'm wondering if their servers are managing captcha requests as well, or if those fall on the user for solving. If the latter is the case, it might still be cheaper to just use proxies depending on the number of updates you run.

As far as the reliability of the program though, it's great. Gets multiple updates per week, and saves data locally.

I personally work with Rank Tracker. Others offer a free trial and then make you pay. This one can be used for free for ever, but you won't be able to save your data. It means that if you check a website today and you check it back tomorrow, you won't see the changes. But you can always track it the amount of times you need.
