[Method] Make $1000 a Month With Amazon - Newbie Friendly [Phase 5a Published!]

Hi, I've got a question about the site identity. Will it be fine if the site title will be my domain (xxxx.com), and the tagline will be: my fake person name, my niche and the word "blog". I will be clearer:
Let's say that my fake person name is Brian Harry, and my niche is food, so my tagline will be "Brian Harry Food Blog".

I am assuming the reason behind choosing the "General Products" (table 2), is ONLY coz it offers up to 8.5% commission. (Kindly correct me IF Im wrong).

IF this is true, would you recommend to promote products from Table 1 (beauty and health, books and media, clothing, etc), IF the commission is Higher then 8.5% (in countries except US)

Apologies, if it has been answered already.

Idea is to get to $1K per month as fast as you can, it's easier to do that when you can grow your commissions to 8.5% and when you signed up with amazon US (because it has bigger audience then others). So product is up to you, but highly recommended from table 2. And Meathead mentioned that you should stick with amazon US. Eventually this venture might end as selling your website and I think it easier to get better price if your site targets US audience.

The answer to your question is in the very section you quoted, "Check out this page to ensure the products you choose are not in a fixed fee structure below 8%"

^ this is correct

Hey guys,
can anyone recommend a wp theme for amazon site??

It is a nice teaser so far :) ....waiting for the next phases.
Great share Meathead

Must the products be at the $50-$100 range though. Is there a reason for this?

It's not 50-100, he actually said 50-1000 in the OP:

Products in the $50-1000 range on Amazon.

Reason is obvious, to get more commission from less number of converted sales, and may be the buyer will also buy some more related or even unrelated Amazon items along with the item link he has clicked on, and you get still bigger commission for that.

Compare this:

Please refer to this image:

volume_rates_table._V192206938_.gif

Suppose:
Case 1:
In a month,
you sell 1,000 quantity of a $10 item (total sales: $10,000) :: You get $800.00 (@8% per item as per the image above) commission.

Case 2:
In a month, you sell 50 items costing $200 each (total sales: $10,000): You'll get $650.00 (@6.5% each) commission.

If you sell another 12 (total units sold: 62), then the commission rate will be the same 6.5% (refer the table), and your 62 sold units at $200 each unit will cost $ 12,400 and your commission amount at 6.5% will be $802.00

~~~~
The difference is in the selling units: to earn approx $800 in a month in Amazon commissions, you sold 1,000 units in the 1st case, while you sold only 62 (whooping 938 items fewer than in the 1st case) items in the 2nd case.
I wouldn't worry about who the hell will buy the "costly/expensive" $200 item on Amazon.com. May be that $200 is still a good bargain price on Amazon compared to the offline stores' prices for the same item. So many people who need the item will buy on Amazon at that price... Availability (or lack of it) of that item in the buyer's locality is another factor which drives a sale... Convenience and ease of buying is yet another... ease of returning it could be yet another, sellers on Amazon need to be at their best behavior 24x7, :) because the consequences of being unpro, negligence, being "scamy", or displaying rudeness will be worse compared to the offline scenario....... Safety for the buyer is The Keyword here ;)!
There absolutely are US buyers who buy items which are lot more costlier. It's up to your affiliate site to get their eyeballs to your affiliate products, and then to make them buy them (some of those aff products) over the rest of the competing sites that matters imo.
Another advantage:
Your visitor/buyer may buy more items along with the product you've advertised on your site, and that means more $$s in commissions without advertising for those additional items he/she buys that day!
All that needs work, but it helps to learn about such things too.
HTH.
P.S.:
btw, that $800 is a great amount in local currency for most of the countries in the third world. In India, for example, the $800 is more than INR 50,000 (before taxes), and it can bring a good lifestyle for the earner, and doing very little extra work on a site that earns him $800 p.m. on autopilot on Amazon.
Hi Meathead,
I have a niche selected and it is one I have interest in so writing content should be easier. The problem is that you mentioned to select a niche that is not seasonal, yet this one is. It does continue to rise though. What are your thoughts?
Thank You
The reason behind sticking to just Amazon (US) site is JUST for the sake of selling the site in future? Or Im missing something here? For example, in India also, Amazon is a HUGE brand and they pay 10% commission on almost all of the items. Wouldn't it be wise to promote Amazon (India)? If Yes, could I have problems selling Amazon (India) site for around 24 months revenue?
Or the chances are higher to get banned IF I not go with Amazon US? and that's why you are suggesting to stick to Amazon US only.
I like to hear your OPINION on this Meathead. All other replies would be appreciated too.
Most guides are for US market but you can always learn what is being taught and apply that in your local market.
Also you can get plugins that automate this, so for example if somebody from UK clicks on a link on your site he will be redirected to amazon uk page and your cookie will be embedded so if he buys you will get commission.
Initially when starting off it is better to keep things simple and just starting off with a website specially if you are a beginner. Rather then worrying about which Amazon to target, worry about getting traction on the website cause that's more tough. Once you have traction you can get any plugin and it will setup automatic redirects, hardly 10 minutes work.
Also I read somewhere that this year Amazon will launch there own link redirect rendering all the plugins useless.
Well, I did some check in semrush and the findings are quite interesting:
Amazon.com in Google.com search (daily average):
8b7b22201895677aa2256c6625122d2c.png
whereas Amazon.in in google.co.in searched figure is (daily average):
I don't know how much percent of those traffic numbers are affiliate site originated traffic, and how much are converted into sales, but the images gives the huge difference in the .com against .in sites. Also, imo normally the Indian traffic will not convert as much as the US traffic does, even if the Indian traffic is almost as targeted because chiefly of the buying power of the USD vs the INR. Meathead should be able to put more light on this. Selling point too, a US-oriented Ama aff site should sell easily on site flipping websites, and it has a global interest associated with it than the .in site.
I started the whole process waiting for your followup, to continue, just have one question, if i have 2 other pages created apart from the pillar page will it mess things up?
Thanks for taking the time
The magic of conquering the pricing tiers is starting two sites. One where you promote $200-1000 products (high commissions) and one where you focus on super-low competition, low-priced items. You can have a site selling 50-100 different products at $0.79 and true, you won't make commission off it, but it's often super easy to rank for this kind of stuff and it'll skyrocket your affiliate tier.
my main problem here is to find a low competition niche with high volume of search and with at least 100$ amazon product relating to that supposed niche, any tutorials to find those niches?
thank you in advance.
Amazon.com is a much bigger market and much easier to market to than the other countries. Can add in the other Amazon entities at a later stage, but the initial guide is for people to start seeing sales before worrying about marginal markets like Amazon India etc.
