So, I set up a new site 10 days ago, all was going well, was ranking well for my keyword (36th position) after 10 days or so, slowly climbing up about a rank a day, then I dropped off to well over 100, I was going really hard with anchor keywords and must have been penalized. It is early days for my site and I was just wondering if there is any way I can make it back from this? I don't mind playing the long hall game 3/6/9 months to recover, but will I ever recover, or is it not worth it?

Should I just blast URL and Brand name's for links and stop keywords altogether or just give up on site?

Try everything and create another 50 sites to test what works and what doesn't as well.

It's a dance. Unless you did ridiculous amounts of spamming your links everywhere, I doubt you've been hit with a ten day old site. Have patience, sites take a longer time to rank these days.

I was just reading your other thread regarding this 10 day - no - rank - website.
If I were you, i would wait and see if the site will bounce back. If on the other hand, the keyword has low competition and you have not invested a lot in this site, while not ditch it and build another?

Ah man you shouldnt have blasted that many exact keyword backlinks. Wait it out a few weeks and if there's no improvement, migrate your current content to a new domain.

It has been an emotional 10 days

all this happen within 10 days! ?

Trial and error is always the best way

I went pretty hard on the links

Should I continue doing links and do just simple naked URL's or nothing at all?

Yeah, I could, but I like this domain name, it has an exact match

lol, i was thinking the same for my website which i started 10 months ago, it came to top 50 for 2 million searches keyword within 20 days of starting it then after that it was nowhere to be found for over 2 MONTHS, but i knew if i continue link building it will come to top, and It did! But after 3-4 months of link building. Right now i am ranking top 3.... and top 10 for past 6 months.

So you think I should keep building links?

Okay dokay, what type of anchors?

Yes, but not spammy links, i built quality and relevant links only. Spammy links go to tier 1 not directly to the site.

Could be google dance, wait for a while and till then build few more quality links.

Cheers

When you say quality links, what do you mean? What should I do regarding naked URL's, anchor texts, keywords?

Are you doing tiered link building or just blasting links to the site? It's only 10 days old. You can't expect all positive results within the first month.

Tiered link building, but maybe I went too hard

if you overdid with your exact match anchors it's possible you may have been penalized but if you have acces to the backlinks that you created you can change the anchors, use branding, naked url, generic achors.

This has happened to my sites previously when they were NEW. If they're new they can bounce up and down during the first 2-3 months (for me). Mine settled (medium comp kw) in the 3rd or 4th month of ranking for it (#4).
