That is stating the obvious. More Spam = Bad advertising results for sellers = less revenue for twitter.

that's what i experienced too, no consistency in getting the phone only reset or the regular reset or no reset at all, it seems random
i'm using 100 accs on the same settings, 1 email per acc, 1 phone number per acc, 1 domain per acc, 2 accs per proxy, accs were created using different ips, following 1k/day (i hit the wall at 5k daily with every account), unfollowing 1k/day, tweeting 75/day
so i'd either expect to get 100 of this phone only reset or none, instead i get just one daily, two at most, sometimes none and i'm getting these mixed with the regular resets or the occasional suspension, but that happen very rarely
and i was also getting this on an account, which has never seen a bot
also take into consideration what someone mentioned above, that there are x amount of twitter accs, which is a public number, a good portion of that are bots and they can't possibly want to disable all that, a huge drop in the number of accs would make them look bad in a lot of eyes
they want to reduce spam, yes, but not at all costs

the screenshot what OP posted appeared on twitter two weeks ago first, so it's a fairly new thing, it's a phone only password reset, whereas with the regular reset, you are able to reset the account using the associated email address, you can't do the same with this new reset, you need access to the phone number to re-verify the account, which we don't have with most of the PVAs, so those accs are pretty much gone at the moment when they get this new phone only reset, that's why it's a big thing or it can be a big thing, if twitter expand on this and hit a lot more accs than just a few randomly
the way around this is to use phone numbers which you can access later when shit hits the fan, no other way around it

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking about... the problem with SIM cards is that they have a limited validity (so basically there's a limit on how long your SIM card works if you don't top up).
There are countries where you can get SIM cards for free but because of the limited validity they kinda become useless.
So far, the best I found is SIM card for 5 euros a year and I can use it on up to 10 twitter accounts.
But I'd like to see how it goes before rushing into buying the new SIM's.

it's clear from what you wrote above, that twitter allows 10 accounts on the same number, the only problem with this, that you link these accs together by the number, so you might as well use the same proxies for them or same everything, it will be the same difference

In a way, it's better for IMers. This kind of stuff is what makes a lot of people give up, so less competition for those who are persistent and look for solutions.

They know they have lot of spam but they didn't want to remove it becouse they users number they are presenting on papers will drop significantly. So what they are doing is trying to lock the "spamming" accounts without loosing the acc, and in the end they will still have a big users on there official report to keep the stocks up.

I've found SIMs from $1 to $2 that last for a whole year without top-up.

But they also need active members. If they lock all the spammer's accounts (which are very active), their number of active users will drop (which is not good for them!). Probably they're testing something, I think they will loosen up. Or if not, we'll adapt to the change and keep spamming the hell out of Twitter!

I think it would be quite natural for a company to register 10 twitter accounts on the same phone number and run accounts on different IP's but... you are right, there's a much bigger risk of a ban.
Also, it'd be a nightmare to phone verify 100 twitter accounts every day so let's see how tough twitter go.
Yeah, twitter could easily burn majority of bot accounts as many run bot 24/7 and no human can sit that long every day following/unfollowing but you're right they need account numbers to report so they have to find some sort of a balance.
I think they are reporting active accounts so when a bot tries to log in a locked account, I guess twitter still considers that account active hahahahahah

last week I decided to run a test with one account created by me before going full buying accounts, i was using pretty conservatives settings following max 300/day unfollowing 50/day after 4 days, got hit with this verification process after 4 days, I just re-verified it, but it make me re-think about buying accounts.
