Stop the "I agree" posts

I'd also want the "now scale up" posts to stop. As if the OP of a thread wouldn't scale up unless you posted telling him to..smh..
 
I think, since reading so many of Peweps posts my psychic abilities are getting stronger. Just by reading the title before opening this thread I had the strong sense that the OP would be followed by loads of "I agree" posts, and I was right.
 
OP you are saying right, this thing need to stop, I agree with you.
 
I agree with what you agree about posts saying "I agree".

Hekke - you're a great forum member who always contributes, but honestly forums exist and function the way they do because of human nature. While you may not agree with all of my sentiments, I expect at least 3-5 people to see things similarly.

It's actually perfectly OK for legitimate members who do contribute to provide positive praise and reinforcement for both good questions as well as good answers, and/or to chime in with their opinions. Even though a question may be satisfactorily answered and people may be leaving comments to support their fellow members and/or to increase their own post counts - allowing this freedom means a consensus can be formed and decisions on how best to move forward can be adequately informed.

As a well informed community member who knows a lot of crap about a lot of crap - I assure you I will continue to share my opinions and ideas without concern for people's perception of it, and I encourage everyone else to chime in on threads they feel warrant their response regardless of how many thousands of others already agreed with the posted content.

As a general rule of thumb ... if you are reading a thread and feel like you got all the answers you need, it's no problem to just stop reading and move to the next thread. Feel free to agree with my sentiments if you want to, or disagree. Post or don't post - it's ok either way.

There are also a number of other really bad ideas expressed throughout this thread. Some by members, and even a mod has expressed a general "type" of posts which should be considered spam, and reported as such. I don't agree with the overwhelming majority of opinions expressed in this thread. I am actively engaged in reporting spam activity on this forum. I'm sure I have sent many reports over the years for actual forum spamming, but the things referenced throughout this thread in no way constitute spam. They may be wasted characters, wasted activity, and not add that much value to the board, but we really should continue to focus on spam in this context as being the active effort to gain quick exposure without adding anything of value. This most commonly is revealed with typed-in urls, link dropping, signature misuse, etc...

Let's just let the mods figure out what should or shouldn't be posted and continue to act as normal human beings otherwise. I'd also like to add that while I don't agree with all the sentiments throughout the thread I really appreciate Apricot weighing in with clear direction about what to definitely NOT post. I want to be clear in saying it's important to take this mod's direction and not post the simple one liner responses that prompted Hekke to create this thread. Hopefully my general dissention won't be misconstrued as encouragement to continue posting these one liners. I'm certainly against that. I just think we need to tread lightly on what constitutes an actual spam post.
