Best TV Series to Watch?

I watched true detective within a few days both series'.
First was pretty good but I found it a bit anticlimactic and found maconnooheeey's acting very over the top the extreme smoking and ramlbings were really irritating though I kinda got used to it towards the end.
Season 2 absolutely aweful. Dont bother. Had potential. It in no way needed to be like the first and the seeds were there they just never blossomed imo.
Still on the lookout for the next thing that will hook me. Havent heard of most of the recomendations ppl make here so interested.
What do you guys recommend for gritty very realistic stuff. Done the wire and enjoyed it. BB ofc. I watched. What else in that ilk? Sopranoes naturally done that too. What else?
I might look into some of the classic police procedurals such as nypd blue. I rememebr when I was young I used to see it on really late but could never be bothered to watch it though I liked the overall feel of it.
So very realistic and absolutely not corny is what I look for.
Looked at mad men was was a total snorefest. I have no interest in watching self absorbed assholess (I watch tv to escape that world of bullshit), same as why I found entourage repulsive.

House of Cards for sure. Government is prob the biggest barrier to most people making serious money and since this version of the series is made by Netflix its not biased like you would get with a show normally.
