So long story short I got scammed by a buyer and Paypal decided in their favor.
I now owe Paypal $170.

I cant pay this.

If I ignore it, will they hire debt collectors?
On my account I have no CC or bank account and a fake address and name and phone number. The address is real but the name isn't.
However, I made a purchase with that account to my real address and my real name, and another purchase to my friends house. Will Paypal or the collectors find us?
Of course, this would all go away if I had assistance from the internet to help pay it back.

I really don't want mail with my name come to my house, I would be in extremely hot water.
I'm 15.

I do hope your parents find out, as it will be a good life lesson for you, anyway as you under 16, I doubt you have much to worry about.
Don't get yourself into trouble, read the forum and learn some ways to make some money.

You can pretty much ignore it for a while, in order to really worry about a debt you need to have several times that amount.

What type of life lesson is this? I got scammed by some stupid guy.
Please answer the question if they will find me.

I need to know the chance of getting mail at my house with my name on it.

You will probably get a letter every once in a while, but what is the big deal? Just throw it away.

I ran up $500 on a credit card in 2010, and the interest went up to $850 and I get a letter every 5/6 months and I just ignore them.

Then contact paypal and ask them. We can't tell you what they will or won't do. We can only give our opinion.
Our opinion is that it is unlikely they will send round debt collectors but they might write to the address, only a Paypal employee can tell you with certainty and they won't make themselves known on a forum like this.

The account doesnt have my name on it, or address but one of the purchases were shipped to me. I cant get mail to my house or someone will intercept it

What is with 15 year old's and getting scammed?

Everyday on steam (Gaming Platform I Use) I hear about kids, high school age, constantly getting scammed on the forums, marketplace, Paypal etc.,

As soon as I got my first debit card at 17, I got a paypal, an ebay, and a whole bunch of stuff to sell. That was the first time I ever made money online.
I have never once been truly "scammed" online. Anything I got on the bad side of I knew was risky going in, and I can count the times on one hand.
Maybe I am naturally good at sniffing it out, but I don't understand these kids getting "scammed" every single day of the week. It's just absurd to me [Gets off soapbox btw]

At the end of the day, you're 15. You won't get in trouble, but your parents might if they ever get a hold of them through the mail etc.,

And I hope you learned something. Life isn't all birthday cake and rainbows. If it is too good to be true, it usually is friend.

If the account doesn't have your details on it then you will probably be safe.

What are you so worried about if someone gets the letter? If your parents find it just tell them its some kind of mistake since people under 18 can't get paypal accounts.

If you had anything shipped to your house, they have the address on file. They want their 170$.

It is just like a debt collector, if they have a way to find you they will.

Personal Note: I had a friend who was -some amount on PP once, they called him every week and sent letters as well until he payed. So they do have a department that collects debts.

But they are not going to do anything about it, $170 is such a low amount that they aren't going to be suing OP over it.

if you didn't provide them your SSN then you have nothing to worry about
if they have your SNN then expect debt collectors harassment in 2-3 years from now

This guy i was working with on a website ended up having his paypal in multiple thousand dollars of debt, to this day he still hasn't paid it. So you should be fine buddy!

If you change your phone number 1 or 2 times you won't get any calls from debt collectors just letters.

Bro, I said nothing about suing? They will definitely pursue it though, and aggressive at that if they know his address.
