youre a dummy , shouldve look into it more

OP dont upgrade unless you want to be spied on, cortana will be giving all your info back to Microsoft

And why exactly am I a dummy if I know of the issue?

SORTA agree. While it may seem specific to Windows 10 or some bug, this can happen when changing ANY OS, whether It's upgrading or downgrading.

Plus, there is that human error thing. Then there's hardware failures/glitches...

There's a very good chance he screwed it up himself, I'd be willing to be he did. Either way, everyone back up your important stuff before the upgrade ... lol duh that's common sense.

He did say that the OS itself is pretty nice so far. I want to upgrade myself, just need to do some research to make sure all the applications I currently use will run fine. I believe there shouldn't be any issues but someone mentioned the .net framework thing so gotta check on that.

Ya never upgrade, always do a clean install.
Same with upgrading Windows 7 -> Windows 8. You'll eventually hit some random bug caused by the upgrade instead of a clean install.

Would be a lot more time consuming, but a clean install is definitely a better choice. Agreed.

the only program i have seen with an issue is innosoft wikiposter. everything else works fine

I've upgraded. No regrets just a few bugs regarding these stupids apps that I want to uninstall (and press Uninstall) but they are still here :|

Why to update something what works well for me now? Im using Windows 8.1 and everything is running smoothly. I dont need more headaches. Especially in windows 10 you cant disable automatic updates. Updating windows is like asking for troubles. Also windows updater is love. When you select more updates it always fail up updating and you can take sleep during reverting updates. Now my windows working smoothly, starting PC in less than 10 seconds so Im happy :)

I never had any problem with the updates in Windows 8.

Personally, I preferred the Windows I used to have on my Commodore 16.

No thanks, don't want people to spy on me.

Call be paranoid but cortana is sketchy as hell.

I have windows 8 and I manage it well because my laptop is touchscreen. Otherwise, its rubbish. I miss XP.

Yes, I agree that better to wait for a month or two... when all bugs will be corrected... "haste makes waste"

The thing I hate about WIndows 8 and 8.1 is the full-screen menu that they have. You may laugh at me, but sometimes the menu becomes too distracting and ( especially after a joint :D ) I can't find what I am looking for. I have heard that Windows 10 is bringing back Classic Shell. I am definitely gonna upgrade if that is the case. No point saying Windows is not user-friendly. I just love it.

Woudlnt do it on my main pc. But i try to install it on pc from my girlfriend... but she is not invited.. lol

Please google "classic shell".

Thanks for the suggestion. Never thought of using a third party software. Let me check if this solves the problem :D

I will wait for windows 10 to become more stable, never a good idea to upgrade your main pc/laptop to the latest windows when it is just released, if you really want to try it do it some other computer where you can risk losing data (just to be on the safer side )
