When I was younger when my sister was born my grandfather was the most proud member of the family, sat there perfectly content just staring at this little baby when my grandmother said "unless you give up smoking you will not see her turn 16". Fear fell over my grandfather and he knew she was right, he quit smoking that moment. Sadly it was too late, 3 years later he died of lung cancer anyway and our family was massively upset. It hit us hard that the "rock" of our family had gone and we all felt lost. I was only 8 at the time and my mother made me promise that I will never ever smoke to avoid putting anyone through the pain his illness and death caused us and to this day, 22 years later I never have. However I now wish I did, because this post just gave me cancer anyway.
