All they're asking is that you stop doing it. I'm in domains for 10 years and get tons of these every week. I NEVER respond to any of these. If they are serious they go via other means to get possession of the domain. As you've taken it down I doubt you will hear anything further but I would not have communicated with them. If you're making money set up a PO Box in a different country as a buffer and use that in the who-is. If you're doing fraud or criminal stuff that's a different ball game, I'm just talking about domains.

If anyone is ever going to put up a website that infringes copyright or is borderline illegal; they should really think about how they are going to play this situation before it arises because it probably will.
Most times the stress free answer is to hand it over and move on.
However, I would't be concerned about some boutique law firm chasing me across the Atlantic. Without knowing the full details you either fold or stick it out. Being in Europe with a good host I would say you are in a strong position to stick it out but thats your call.
Two things to note, theres no need to lawyer up unless we are talking about real money and you intend to fight. A lawyer will drag you into any battle because he still gets paid. If you are going to give in just delete everything and ignore communication.
Never reply to correspondance as the OP has just done. He has just confirmed his contact details/ownership of the domain and therefore his guilt. Not a good idea.

The notice seems to be related to the domain and not to the content hosted. I've been in the same situation like yours but I did handled it quite well. But in my case, they asked me to just take the domain down and never renew it again. They didn't asked for any documents or accounting.
The notice you got is normally issued if your domain name contains names of big companies for example: Amazon, Facebook etc..
So If you don't want to loose your earnings then what you can do is buy a new domain name without "Facebook" or "Amazon" or whatever company name it contains. Then shift the website to new domain and update the Google Webmaster tools that your website's URL has been changed(I think Google has given full resource on that).
Now you can just drop your previous domain(Never host it again) and continue with the new one.

We learn on our own mistakes. I did respond and hopefully it will stay on that - the site is removed. Thank you for your reply.
I'm not using their name in the domain. I just decided to drop the damn domain and never go into that niche again. Hell, I'll push WH a lot more now and drop as much as I can fake PPD websites. Thanks.
Just drop the domain and you should be fine.
Anyway, didn't you private whois your domain info?
I did. email came to that WHOIS email and directly to my inbox.

If its fake how are you violating DRM circumvention rules?
I really can't answer that since my website is doing what I already wrote above. Generating fake coupons for the game. There is something you can redeem in the game, but I don't generate real ones, never did.

1) Register a domain with fake details (saves on WhoIs), and use a free email addy;
2) Look for providers on BHW who offer hosting who ignore DMCAs;
3) Don't contact the law firm again, but feel free to send them a screenshot of your earnings

Haha! I have semi fake details on my domain register, hosting on DMCA ignore servers and I will not show them my earnings.Next time:

The reason is because, if you send them emails, they will be able to track you where you are. It is pretty easy.
Sigh, here we go again. No dear smart*ss, if you notice my history I had just posted a thread named something like this "Be careful, current pirate bay could be being used by the FBI to track original content uploaders" and someone decided to try to be funny and just posted a "hurr durr, conspiracy pic" instead of actually contributing to the topic while I was just trying to alert others.
