Been lurking on bhw the last 3-4 months and have read tons of stories so I just thought I'd share mine in hopes of any suggestions, tips, etc....
So I started up an animals niched instagram about 9 months ago (April 2014) and decided that I would grow my account based on content, mass following/unfollowing, liking, and commenting pictures all manually on my phone. No bots, no paying for shoutouts, nothing else.
Some days were more successful than others (depending on how much time I had on my hands with work/grad school), but I started out small with taking my time to follow up to 7,500 people and then unfollowing the 7,500 people along with the liking and commenting on photos. I found it to be successful, but just extremely time consuming and took a ton of work to get the followers. As time went on my account kept growing and growing hitting the 10k mark, 25k mark and then I decided that I would just follow about 800-1,100 in a day and then unfollow them in the same day or the next at the very least and found this to be even more successful but once again even more time consuming. I was blocked a few times but over the course of the total 9 months only about 2-3 times so I wasn't and still am not worried. Along the way I also created a puppy account (currently at 7.7k followers), a travel/earth account (6.6k followers), and a fitness account (4k followers) that I would work on once in a while but the animal account was the one that I was on every day all the time.
Over the last month once I hit the about the 35-40k mark I started selling shoutouts here and there for about $15-$20 and have made about $350 in the last month. I'm now currently at the 50k mark and even without mass following/unfollowing I can gain about 100-200 just by posting content but I have been sticking with the mass following on a daily basis and grow about 500 followers a day.
Recently though, I've been getting tired of the daily grind of mass following and unfollowing and became curious about using a bot for not only my animals account but also my 3 other accounts as well. My hope would be to at least get to 100k on the animals account but 200k+ would be the ultimate goal at some point and I feel it could be a possibility. Anybody have any suggestions on which bot to use and how to use it? Do I use it on my main account or make a bunch of dummy accounts and do it that way? Would also love to listen to any other suggestions or tips as far as anything else about my story as well. Hope you guys liked my story and looking forward to hearing from some of you guys.
