Neither, I don't watch that much football, however I watched most of the World Cup games this summer and was observing Messi's reaction after the final and he did not behave very professionally.

It's one of the most stupid arguments in football. There will never be an end to it and journalist love that shit because it gives them infinite traffic.
My favourite player is Ronaldo but I don't ever bother comment on goal.com or some other site because the whole debate is retarded.

Not a fan of soccer one bit, but one of my gripes with the sport is the skill gap. I mean yeah you have the players stand out and so on. But if you reduce the amount of players on the field, you then create a larger window of opportunity for those great players who can get past 2-3 defenders to shine brighter. If that were the case it would make the arguments for these cases deeper and more debatable, since you would have that much more to argue for players.
Sadly that will never happen and whenever I present my argument on improving the sport of soccer, I'm met with 'you just don't get it'. Then there's the whole 'heritage' thing, which I think is garbage and old man syndrome of 'I don't like change'.
Watch all sports pretty much, exception of soccer, hockey and golf. Not high enough tempos and usually few opportunities for scoring. I feel as if it's somewhat easier to disguise a soccer team of how bad it might be due to them being low scoring affairs, where in others it gives you more of a definitive answer of how bad they might be based on box scores opposed to w-l alone.

At the risk of being "one of those people". It does seem from what you've posted, that you really don't get it.
Football would be incredibly shallow and boring if it was just purely about dribbling past players and showcasing individuality, plus what you've described already exist in the form of indoor and beach football which are more a showcase of flair and skill, also the 5 a-side and 7-side variations. Football being, by far, the most popular sport in the world, it isn't too surprising to me that your getting disagreements with your views on how to improve it and it certainly isn't all down to "old man syndrome".

Before that, I believe there was three tiers of world class players. Some stand out slightly more then others. Top tier and untouchable at that time is Messi, then a 2nd tier of players would come Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Lahm and Carlton Cole then 3rd tier Robben, Ibra, Schweinstager and so on..
