WTF Google?

Heraclitus, you stated...

Yes I understand, but trashing 2 months of university free time isn't nice... I guess the lesson I learned was to never work too hard on something others control.

Actually, you didn't learn the lesson.

The lesson is: LEARN SEO!

Anyone who has a basic understanding of SEO would never go through the online gyrations that you have typed.

Stop all of this emotional haranguing and learn SEO, or, get out of the game.

That's the punchline dude: You have to - may it be Google or a "real" boss - in order to finally not have to anymore. Just make sure once you stacked the necessary $ to call 9 to 5 work life a day, you'll be busy lobbying politics all day. Considering the fact that most of them are dead-boring idiots, ending up an underpaid IMer seems more comfortable to me though.

"I'm so upset atm, I was hoping to make a good, whitehat website, spend 2 months on it and this what I get from the freaking thiefs.."

If you wanted to make a whitehat website then you shouldn't have built any forum profiles/comments/web 2.0 - that makes it blackhat already.

And 2 months is a very short time in SEO game.

"I had rpetty much perfect on page optimization, yoast gave me a green mark every time..."

No you don't, the way you write here reveals that.

You should learn more about SEO and just move on, things like this happen. Could be a dance or not, the time will tell. Meanwhile, build some more content/links and/or create a new website(s).

What you have are not whitelink backlinks. Those are pure spam backlinks in google eyes.
Whitehat is when you dont do any manual linkbuilding. Ofc in 99% you can have the best content and you still wont rank. Simple as that ;)

Forget all those whitehat-Blackhat crap. SEO is Blackhat simple as that. And dont believe all this (moz) content marketing bullshit. This works in some niches but in many you will never succeed without manual linkbuilding.

Learn SEO first and no you cant learn this from reading only but you have to do trial and error and it is not as easy as it used to be. Build many websites use different approches.
And dont believe anything until you tried it. (and never believe anything google tells you they are full of shit and only tell you how they would like it to be)
Most people in SEO Forums and Blogs just repeating what they read somewhere but mostly its just outdated rehashed crap.

In the End it all comes down to:
- strong backlinks mostly out of content with natural anchors
- better user signals as your competitors
- conversion rate for the $$$

Todo: Buy majestic. Find 10 non commercial websites. Study their backlinks. Find 10 subpages on those websites that have many links and good rankings. Study their anchors and backlinks in detail again. Now you know more about how to make a natural link profile then 90% of the people in most seo forums ;)
You can also learn alot from analyzing you competition but beware. Many people hide their pbn from backlink checkers so you only see bullshit links. (super secret tipp: google Website Name, url and url with main keywords to find the pbn domains on google) :p

For the next website: Make an exel spreadsheed and write down all link types with anchors in the order you want to build them. It should start with some anchors like that:
http://www.mywebsite.com
www.mywebsite.com
mywebsite.com
My Website Name
...

Start with non spammy unique web 2.0 (like 15 to 20 and only Brand links like above)
You can boost them with some links but dont use pure spam. Use a cheap pbn service or something like that ofc also with natural anchors.
Link Homepage and Subpages with those. This way you can use hard anchors with the quality links. Nerver use a hard keyword anchor more then 1 time...
Use a brand domain and fuck emd. If you keyword is "Coffee review" use something like coffeworld.com, coffify.com or whatever looks legit and is NOT a real word or website name already ....

And now because i have a good day: You build brand links to the homepage but you dont try to rank the homepage for real. (you still need some good brand links and ofc you can rank it but not for your main key if you build a small website ofc....)
What you really rank are your subpages. Fuck the homepage. Subpages are more easy to rank as for now.
I know most people will disagree with me. If you take a closer look at how the serps changed in the last year you will get it.
Google wants the people directly at the information not some page that only lists the pages where you can find those informations.

And to finish it. Dont overoptimize onpage. Have a different titel tag and heading! Dont use 1 word keyword alt tags on pictures. Describe them. Underoptimized onpage is the new onpage optimization.
You dont even need your keyword in the url. It does not matter and if you have it 2 times it does more bad then good.

Have fun and remember thats only one way how to do it but it works as for now.

I actually saw something similar on the 14th and 15th of December of my rankings for two sites. Both were top of google the first at 4th and the other at 7th. Then on both those days they dropped to 295th and 260th. Both have completely different strategies as well.

OP check your web2.0 properties, carefully read the articles, is it sounds spammy and not natural?

Having few backlinks from pages with no authority is not necessary the way to go to get ranked. You need to get link juice from somewhere. It doesn't mean you need to use spammy links or PBNs, but without links from high authority sites/pages with high SEO metrics, it's hard to expect you'll stay ranked. Check our thread if you are interested in high quality high PR/CF/TF/PA/DA links from established sites only - http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ogle-page-ranking-established-sites-only.html and PM me if you have any questions.

Google doesn't care whether you do manual or automated link building, they punish you when they see you building links. The only way to get away with it is through building links and no being worried about blackhat and white hat.

if you are doing everything by the book and white hat, then the only thing you need is patience.

They're hand written articles mate. Better than 99% of the backlinks out there.

I was prepared for that, what I wasn't prepared for was to get from #1-#20 to #280+

I expirience same problems when tried step by step all white hat others rank with hundreds thousands link and thats okay to google. Blackhat seo hacks and spam is best if you know to do it then make money and repeat again if you and when get penalty

Yeah, I'm going with a no fcks given mindset this time...

Yeah, I feel for you OP. I have a manual and original article with 500+ word, 10 se-optimized photos, plus a video included but a blogspot page with 3 photos and not even a word on it is beating my page for the keyword in the serps. But you know what, it doesn't matter if you're on number 8, 9, or 10 as long as your site has;

A brandable name = so that first time visitors will easily remember the site (even when they're offline).
Great site design and UI = an impressive look combined with great user experience translates to great first impressions and you know what they say about first impressions, right?
Good quality content = the first two coupled with this will make your visitors comeback.

With the algo and the quality of the serps (at least with G's results), it really is time to think more about the users.

Of course! Because the Google bot is perfectly capable of recognizing good design and UI.

It might be about something else like your theme or any kind stuff like that. It's better to get a SEO expert :ebay:

Learn to manage your expectations. You expected too much from Google in that they would keep your site ranking for a long time and that's why you were shocked and disappointed when they penalised your site.

The keywords I was targeting had NO competition, I was the only one giving valuable information. Anyway... thanks for posting.

Also to add-on to this, I found your thread by seeing if there was an update to Google's algo or something. I think we are both in similar situations.
