Noticing some weird stuff going on with IP address tracking. Normally, when someone clicks-through from one of my landing pages to the sales page (Clickbank or whatever) I can see their IP address in prosper202. But these click-thrus to Amazon are showing (in prosper202) as coming from MY OWN domain (that is, the IP address on which resides the wordpress review site itself).

The only thing I can figure is that somehow, "Visual Website Optimizer" (http://www.vwo.com) is somehow altering the IP address that it passes-on to prosper202 as the click passes thru the Pretty Link. Strange and NOT GOOD.

It means I can't track my own test-clicks. And since Amazon's click-tracking system is such FUCKING GARBAGE it means it is currently impossible to know how many clicks I am actually getting to Amazon. It's totally crazy. I'll have to call them tomorrow (Monday) and try to figure-out what's going on. Hopefully they speak Engrish.

<rant>WHY Amazon, won't you just act like Peerfly, or Clickbank or Commission Junction or Rakuten Linkshare or ANY OTHER fucking affiliate network and let us affiliates accurately track our clicks? WHY???? Jeff Bezos, you are an ASSHOLE.

But here I am, trying to nibble on a little speck of a crumb of the xmas pie that fell on the floor, laying in a crevice under the fridge next to an ancient, moldy glob of forgotten vegetable matter. *sigh* Can't wait til xmas is over & I can implement meathead's system on a RATIONAL affiliate network/platform. </rant>

It is a good method. But now is 2014, can this be used since it was posted on few years ago?

Regarding Buzzbundle: when I set up a stream with just "Blogs" searched, I find that the most recent "mentions" as they call it - even for extremely popular keywords like "forex" - are DAYS ago. Like 4, 5 even 6 days ago.

Would anyone happen to have any insights into that?

I use Google Blogsearch. It does the same thing as Google News. The only difference there's no special button for that. And then you choose in Search Tools "past hour" or "24 hours".

Actually, I remember reading an article on how to search particular engines in google, like wordpress, joomla, bulletin, etc. So you can search certain type of website which are more likely to accept your comments. Have to play with that.

Clearly not going well. Spent all day posting 37 comments to google news sites, got 15 clicks->review page & zero click-thrus->amazon. A lot of work for seemingly nothing.

Hard to tell, though if the problem is too-small of a sample size (as Freddyjames alluded to here in post #2416 ("
You need to be making more comments a day bud. I will do up to 50 in an hour.").

I'm making about 30 comments/DAY. Guess I have to work faster.
:boink: So it could very well be that, or it could be my "message" or the product or the niche or ...

And that's the dilemma: to figure-out what exactly is the problem that's leading to few clicks to the review and/or few click-thrus to the vendor's sales page.

Oh, and my review site has apparently been de-indexed by BING.
:rocketwho (My review page had been ranking on pages 1 & 2 of Bing for the product name and product name+"review".)

I've been trying this method this week quite actively. I did comment posting only 2 days. But I can tell you the following.
The first day I posted about 20-25 comments (news/blogs/social networks) and I had about 100 visits that day. The next day I didn't do any posting and I had about 30 more visits from the comments I posted the day before. Important note is that I was posting natural comments, not just copy-paste, but I was actually giving a comment/feedback, at least in half of the comments.

Then, a day later, I followed Freddy's advice and was concentrated more on the quantity than quality. So I posted about 40-50 comments. As a result, I had less than 50 visits that day. Note: I was mainly copy-pasting the comment I created. It was longish (2 paragraphs of about 3 sentences each).

I can assume that it also depends on the website or the very post/topic you post to whether you get the attention of the public. It may also depend on the time when you are posting. Therefore I cannot say for sure if quality is definitely over quantity. However, I tend to believe that. Especially, if you are caring to build up the community around your blog and going a long distance. At least it does make sense to me.

As to clickthrough, the first day I had ClickBank product on the first page of my site and I had insane CT rate, about 30%. Maybe because of the link to the video presentation, I'm not sure. I was not analysing the behaviour of the visitors yet.

The second day of my comments a CPA offer to a physical product was on the front page. And I had a lot worse CT, about 10%. This time there was no video presentation.

Either way I had no sales.

My advice about CT would be to check your review articles. I see it this way: if I read review and after every paragraph I see the link BUY IT HERE or CLICK HERE TO BUY (you got the idea), then I can see straight away, that the review is no the real review, but a sale page. And naturally I'm gonna lose the trust. Of course I would look through the article to compare with others, but it unlikely convinced me to buy from that website.

Good examples of links in the review for me would be something like:
Find out what people say about [product X] on Amazon (and putting into Amazon word a hyperlink).
The best place to buy [product X] in my opinion is Amazon.
To find out the price, click here (there's a natural interest to see how much is it even if you are not going to buy it, just to compare with something you already know).
To get more information, you can visit [product x] page on Amazon.

You don't have to hide word Amazon, because everyone knows it's a respected and trusted online shop.

Considering, that I have not done any sale (although it's been just 2-3 days), I was thinking on how to make it better. And I thought that adding reviews of shittier products as well, giving them lower grade, would help people want to buy what YOU want them to buy.

Another useful thing is to make a comparison table of one product with another one. I mean you know like they compare digital cameras for instance. They put three cameras in 1 table and make a comparison using the same specifications.

I also think that email marketing for this method is a gold mine. I don't have experience with that, but I think it's time to start learning.

As to my blog, at the moment I am thinking to fill in more content, and maybe restructure the website and work on creating a decent somewhat authority website, at least looking that way. And meanwhile the building the connections on the forums etc.

To meathead1234: massive thanks and respect for this method! you literally changed my perspective on Internet Marketing.

Disastrous results. But I take heart in the sage words of the esteemed elder meathead: "99% of posts will bring you hardly any traffic. Worst case, you just get a backlink. Some posts will bring you a ton of traffic - so you just got to keep at it." #1266

I think maybe one problem is that I've been typing only product-specific keywords into google news search; now I've gone all Helter-Skelter on this shit; I've begun typing just ANY old xmas-related keywords in and copy-paste-copy-paste-copy-paste my spam like a man possessed. Like Jack Torrance in "The Shining" going after ol' Danny Boy. :vroam:

2) Create a review blog. Preferably you would want to use a proper domain as that's less likely to be flagged as spam. These cost a few bucks, as does hosting. Doesn't matter what the name of the site is, although it helps if it is targeted. And please buy a .com not a .info or something crap like that.
is a .com REALLY that necessary? Has anyone tried similar methods using a cheaper tld or even a spammy looking one like .pw

I ask just because i want to know if the method is effective REGARDLESS of the tld.

No, I still don't analyze the behaviour, since I am working on the content and making my website somewhat decent. Like a proper niche site. At least I do as much as I can within the limits of my skills and experience. So I can't really comment on that.

Thank you for the list building thread. I'll check it out.

As to the rest:
Doing the commenting only 2 days, it made me look at this whole method from a different angle. Spam commenting is a simple, easy to do, straight forward method that can bring you the traffic straight away. But then I thought that participating in the community would drive more traffic and more convertable traffic. For that you would have to put some effort and contribution on the forums and social media. And the link in your signature, for instance, there would stick for long. It's gonna take some of your time and effort at first, but then I'm sure it's gonna pay back.

I don't want to say that spam commenting on the news or other sites is worthless. Not at all! But for now I have decided to start with the community. At least I personally want to start from that and see how it's gonna be.

UPD: You know what is the main VALUE of this method for me? Deep understanding that Google is not the whole Internet and not the only source of traffic. Especially if we are talking about saturated markets with loads of money. I read about it in many other places on the Internet, but only now truly realized it.

UPD 2: As to the "decent website", I mean more the quality, than quantity. I've seen a good example of how this whole thing works. A completely noobish website in my niche on private domain but on Weebly basis. With shitty theme, 3-5 pages, with a lot of text and massive paragraphs. No banners or any social network bars to like, share or follow. But it is popular on the forums! even "ancient" inhabitants on the forums were saying "oh yeah, I know that site, nice review blabla". It got a lot of Disqus comments as well. And you know what? It has like 3-5 reviews on different products. Some of them not even related. Well, the only connection is that are for women.
