All I have to do is use my competitors website links in gmail letters with titles like BUYING LINKS FOR COMPETITORDOMAIN.COM!!1

And my competitor will be penalized

Do you really believe that?

Yes. Yes I absolutely do. And those who want to ignore the potential risk do so at their own determent. It is akin to a shoplifter going into the mall with a striped shirt, little black mask, and a big brown sack like in the cartoons. Just plain stupidity.

Do you really believe that BS? that usig gmal to buy links or such stuff can hurt you? really?

Ok, I hope everybody understands that google employees don't personally rad your email to find blackhat stuff

You can say: "It's 100% automated process, google just extract links from emails and use that to find blackhatters"

Ok let's ASSUME that (still great BS)

So is changing to another free web based mail providers this hard? :|

Let me tell you this, if i am the head of webspam team, and i want to tackle a particular network, this is what i will do.

Contact the seller, and see if they are using gmail and their email address, this is so simple to accomplish even an idiot can do it. And then you know what i will do next.

Or do you expect me to write a whole new bunch of algorithm to tackle a few PBNs?

And do you believe that if I discuss my blackhat seo thing using android cell-phone google will penalize my site?

Namecheap allows you to have a personal email for $9.88/year. They even allow you to get 2 months free if you want to try it out. If you cannot afford that, then you shouldn't be offering SEO services in the first palce. There are simply no excuses other than indolences for using gmail or other free emails when offering SEO services (those emails are fine if you're doing work that doesn't involve SEO or Google).

I would never buy a seo service from someone who's using free email address, just sayin'.

All the top sellers on here use Gmail. Unprofessional. That's why their business is providing SEO rather than making 100x more by spending the time on their own properties.

Seriously doubt Gmail read your emails but why take that 0.1% chance? Because they don't give a f*ck about their client's safety it's just $$$.

You have to think ahead. Think of what their algorithm might do 5 years from now. Take ALL precautions. It has to look so natural that even a manual check couldn't tell the links are phony. Using Gmail is compromising your bulletproof safety.

Yes it is very risky especially with all these updates to keep using Gmail for seo

Yep, any professional SEO company should be using @theirowndomain.com for an email address and never rely on any free service...

any one knows how many emails we can sent in a day or 24 hours... ???

A part of Google's business model is extracting personal information from users of their services and using it for advertising purposes. They do not charge people a fee to use their products, since the personal DATA they collect is much more valuable. It's similar to internet marketing - the money is in the list, and Google is building the biggest list in the world, profiting from using the information internally or selling/sharing it with other organisations.

Now of course they do not have employees personally reading your emails, in the same way that they do not have employees manually goto every website on the internet to determine where it should rank. They use huge amounts of computing power to extract, analyse and eventually monetise your personal information and Gmail is one of many services which does this:

From Google Privacy statement:

"We use the information we collect from all of our services to provide, maintain, protect and improve them, to develop new ones, and to protect Google and our users. We also use this information to offer you tailored content - like giving you more relevant search results and ads."

The part "protect Google and our users" is open to interpretation and conspiracy. But it would be foolish for them not to use the data they gathered to help prevent manipulation of SERPs.

There was an incident earlier this year when an SEO asked Matt Cutts for help with a reconsideration request for her client's payday loan website. Matt Cutt's response:

bRKIkmB

How does Cutts and Google know that her client has "signs of long-standing mass deliberate spam"? They may not have come to the conclusion from analysing Gmail communications, but what other information did they use ( and was it collected from other Google services?) to conclusively identify them as serial spammers?

Knowlege is power. If you have use Google services whether currently or in the past, then they have more power over you than you realise. If you are serious about SEOing on Google, then surely should be serious about doing everything you can to cover up your footprints from them?

When i started, i was using Gmail and most times, within weeks, my sites gets hit with Google updates..

Gmail is a bad idea for SEO purposes

It's rather funny to see such comments

When people claim that the fact ey used GMAIL caused the penalty but not the ACTUAL BLACKHAT moves

As handy as web-based email services such as Google's are, any brand looks 10x more respectable if they are using an email associated with a domain.
With the exception of trying to pass yourself of as a small blogger when you've up scaled a lot of smaller sites, it's just good practice and more professional to use you at yourdomain emails. The easiest way for this imo is to set up forwarding from all of them to a main inbox so they're easier to deal with.

It's not a great idea to be using gmail and sending link reports to customers using it. I don't know for a fact if this is a big issue or not, but common sense would suggest that you should be taking more precautions than that. Keep your manufactured links well away from anything that could give up the information to Google.

All the blackhat packages on the service forums should include whether or not they use Gmail during any part of the process right in the same section that talks about turn around time, etc.

You should be afraid when you bank in 6 figures per month and you are a big time blackhat player. No one cares about your Adsense, 5 micro niche sites and Scrapebox. No one.

Anyone arguing with this is pretty naive.

And the reason most won't move on from Gmail is the same reason they don't succeed. Lazyness
