I'm not sure if you're understanding what I'm asking correctly. The person I quoted asserts that there is undeniable evidence about us not ​going at the moon. I would like to see the evidence.

There is overwhelming evidence of the contrary.

1) The Russians would have denounced it if it were a farse. It was the height of the Cold War.

2) There are a bunch of artifacts on the moon installed there by man.

3) None of the photography and footage has ever been revealed to be fake. There are very very high resolution photos of it all.

4) In over 40 years all three astronauts have been bombarded with questions and they always got the story right and never contradicted anything and all their reports of the moon landing were scientifically correct and consistent.

So if this were a farse, this big, this immense, you'd have plenty of contradictions and inconsistencies in over 40 years of public scrutiny.

I think that's been done several times.

And as has already been mentioned, there are mirrors placed there during the landing expeditions.

I can't remember how many, but certainly more than one.

They are used for precisely measuring the distance between the Earth and moon and anyone with the right equipment can use the mirrors.

1) How black the space is around Earth. It's creepy as all hell. There's not just a stark contrast of colors. But the contrast of life vs death. There in the center lies Earth... our home.... full of life and millions of different living organisms.... then surrounding all this life is nothing but an empty, dark, hollow, vacuum of nothingness. It's just amazing because as creepy as the black is.... that blue little planet wouldn't be as beautiful w/out it. And the same exact thing goes for life. Life wouldn't be as beautiful w/out death.

Maybe is the space around that is full and the Earth that is an empty spot within it (like an oasis in desert) Give it a go and look at the picture in this mindset - it's an interesting feeling.

2) How small Earth actually is. I just never realized how far our moon is from this planet. Because you can look outside any night and it looks like the moon is right outside our atmosphere (technically the exosphere). But in this picture, it looks like the moon is almost as far as mars. It just looks really far from Earth. And the reason I find this interesting is I don't understand how our moon can orbit the Earth from that far away.

Like I always thought it was the Earths gravity that keeps the moon orbiting our planet.... correct? But how the hell does Earth's gravity stretch so far away from Earth itself? I just find that really weird. And I know this is a stupid question. But I wonder if you could run on the moon as fast as you can (towards Earth) then jump into space and let Earths gravity pull you into it's atmosphere? Because that would make a great commercial for Red Bull. Like imagine putting a parachute on you, standing on the moon, then being able to jump all the way into the Earths atmosphere. I can't even imagine what type of rush that would be (or if it's even possible).

Gravity stretches to infinity. Only reason it doesn't appear so is because there are many bodies that have gravity and the stronger/closer ones cancel the effect of the weaker/distant ones. Is basic physics from school - force vectors. Also if moon were closer would get pulled in by the earth and collide, if would be further it would escape and go further and further. It's a perfect spot where it is now - in orbit. Also, moon's gravity pull on earth produces tides - that's how powerful it is.

You can't jump from moon out into space because of the gravity. While you need less force/speed to attain escape velocity than on earth you still need a rocket to push you. You're 80-100kg while the moon is significantly heavier so it pulls you and if you'd be heavier it would pull you even more because the pull is reciprocal (you'd pull the moon towards yourself too from a force perspective).

It's not a conspiracy. I had heard the landing on Moon news then as a kid and it was full of static, because of the dust thrown around by the Eagle on the moon. I actually thought that only due to the disturbance created by Armstrong on the dead silent moon, the static in our radio was caused by his noise. Then few years later, I went to the USIS library at New Marine Lines, Mumbai, and saw the landing video cassette played on their small portable television. Yeah, that was a real Moon and a real Armstrong walking a few steps there. I've seen the moon before in my dreams and the lunar land on that television looked exactly as it was in my dreams. I remember I had also thought then that Mr. Neil Armstrong could have missed the old moon altogether if Apollo 11 had reached it on a new moon day. Hmm...

Not quite.

If the Earth and Moon were to be moved closer together their orbits would speed up to compensate.

It's a principle called 'The Conservation of Angular Momentum' and it's the same law that causes an ice skater to spin quicker if they pull their arms closer into their body.

Rather than thinking of the moon as being in the perfect spot, you could say that it's orbiting at the perfect speed - and if it moved closer to the Earth its speed would increase until it was again perfect.

The moon is slowly moving away from us, it isn't bound to our orbit.

The idea of that perfect range doesn't exist. (edit before people complain: yes, something can be "stuck" orbiting an object or remain in the same spot relative to the object it's orbiting, but the idea of perpetual orbit is impossible as both objects are always changing and will experience force.) What we have is convenient, lucky range, so lucky some might say it was planned. It was luck that our solar eclipses work as they do, but that might help explain the habitable range of our star. Or not. We'll have to study it.

As for no women stepping on the moon, we haven't had a woman president in the US either. We don't want them to period all over the instruments and end up turning the moon pink.

I assume there are such photographs. I'm not much of a space buff, but I'm sure these pictures are out there? I mean, the Sea of Tranquility, the mirrors, the rovers, all that junk is lying there somewhere, correct? There must be photos of it....

With the Voyagers? batteries eventually running low, the cameras were turned off to save energy, but not after a final image in 1990. For the last picture it turned around and looked home. Earth was a tiny, blue dot barely visible in the glare of the Sun.

and not one of them that were 'in on it' have come forward with any actual conclusive evidence of this supposed cover-up? Seriously? For those of you that are fans of Snowden, you are telling us that not one person that was part of this world wide cover-up changed their minds in FORTY-FIVE years and decided to come forward with what they did?

Anyone that has dealt with government or corporate 'secrets' understands that the more people that know about them, the harder it is to keep them contained. Your list above suggests hundreds, if not thousands were 'in on it' and yet none of them have posted first hand accounts, along with proof of what they claim?

I don't understand how people actually believe that crap... sorry, but I don't.

PS. I have met one of the original astronauts (I forget which one - it was years ago - It was NOT Neil Armstrong) - and more recently (about 5 years ago) Gene Kranz. I don't believe that people that 'faked it' would continue to be that passionate about all of it all these years later. Again... I just don't buy it.

Sometimes I feel like stupid conspiracy theories are put out there to discredit the REAL ones. There were UFOs seen on the way to the moon. Nobody talks about those because, of course, we didn't go to the moon to begin with! Not going to the moon discredited the REAL story here. What the heck were the UFOs Buzz Aldrin saw? I forget which astronaut said that he saw a UFO out his window but did not speak about it into the radio because he knew they were being overheard by tons of people. If there's any "conspiracy" here it's the UFOs.

For the same reasons that they believe in the other conspiracy theories involving global events and issues. Lack of education, ideological rejection of authority and science, and the deep-seeded need most people have to make sense of a very complex world that is for the most part 100% out of their control.

Their belief in a theory has very little to do with its specifics.
