Laptop waking up from sleep automatically

So I've been trying to tackle this issue where the laptop wakes up after sleep when I close the lid and no success so far. I've tried almost everything from more than 20 pages I picked from the internet and no avail.

Two recent things that I believe might be causing this issue are the updates to Visual Studio 2012 and installation of Java 7, update 45.

Is or has anyone else having/had the same issue that related to the modifications mentioned above? Or does anyone know if there is a factor in the updates triggering the wakeup thing? I don't feel like removing them to test, I have other things to do...

Haha, I just tried putting it into hibernation and it woke up.. Turning it completely off won't though.

My laptop isn't that fast at booting, so I prefer it in sleep mode so I can get up and working asap.

Not from the BIOS but I tried disabling that setting and it's not it.

Laptop turns off for 1-3 seconds then on again. I can hear the fan turning off.

have a look at the bios setting, as it could override the settings in windows, check you have enough hardrive space, that can stop it from sleeping. Try booting into safe mode, and see if you can replicate it there.

It could be a mechanical issue with the switch that signals if the lid is open or close. I've seen that happen in some cheap asus crap laptop.

I actually booted up the bios earlier today and didn't find anything. Safe mode does not support sleep mode

maybe it doesn't want to sleep? have you thought about that.
Maybe its watching you sleeping, and recording via webcam those little tents you make in your sheets at night.

I have a Toshiba Satellite and if that's the case, handing it in and waiting for repair or replacement is not an option because all my work is on computer...

OP what have you done trying to fix this problem? I had the same problem before on my laptop and we have the same brand as well.

I tried every piece of suggestion of disabling stuff but nothing helped. Open cmd and type "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed", it will display to you what devices can trigger the awake function. Type "powercfg -lastwake" and it will tell what caused the last awakening.

I also started to believe it might be a hardware issue, f*ck.

Haha, I can assure you it's nothing to do with IM, I do a lot of programming stuff. Oh well, I might 've f*cked up the pc on the way.

Move you data to another computer and let the manufacturer deal with this. You want this fixed, don't you ?
