I have a client who has received a negative review on pissedconsumer.com.They want me to make the offending page disappear from the first page of Google for two search terms. I am not sure negative seo will work due to the size and authority of pissedconsumer.
My approach so far has been to create a number of web 2.0s to try and outrank it and push it off the front page. So far I've made profiles on sites like webs, weebly, manifo (and many other similar sites) as well as facebook pages, twitter profiles, a soundcloud profile and a pretty strong squidoo lens.
I've strengthened the best performing web 2.0s with backlinks from quite diverse sources and interlinked some of the other pages I've made, but not in a way that leaves an obvious footprint. I have done all of this in the past month. I have had some success with this approach, with many of my web 2.0s reaching the first page for the keywords that return the pissedconsumer page. Last week I managed to outrank the pissedconsumer page and I was hopeful it would only be a matter of time before the offending site dropped from the first page - with my continued efforts.
In the last few days however the pissedconsumer site has bounced back. I am likely to lose this client if I can't outrank it before the end of the month. Perhaps that is a tall order given the size and authority of PC, but I don't think it's impossible given that I managed to briefly outrank it already, if I keep strengthening the web 2.0s I've already made.
Has anyone dealt with this site before or have any advice on how best to combat it? I am looking at either black or white hat methods, I'm not bothered as long as I can make that page drop from the first page. Can anyone suggest some other sites like facebook, google+, last.fm that rank nicely? I'm not against using negative SEO if it will actually be effective. Sorry if this is better suited to a different sub forum, and thanks for any suggestions!
