Think it's got me as well I was ranking strong on the first page for a competitive keyword/s and now i've been wiped off the face of the first page some of my keywords not even ranking anymore! Why G Why!!!

from my experience, Google is killing new links, especially new losing links, in new algo, Google just enlarged the effectiveness of losing link than before. Old links are valued much more important than before, if you have many 1years old links still alive today, your website will not be affected during this new Google algo update.

Took a screenshot of my backlinks on a site I own and you can see the mass drop not to sure if this is anything to do with the new update but the site was all white hat no black hat techniques used

and this site was only around 4 months old

I suspect this has to do with on-page seo.
I had plenty of pages ranking in Top 10 without single backlink and old classic kw in url, title, meta description and 3% anchor diversity.

They all freakin tanked.

Whats even more strange is that Google changed my site title in Serps from Title - Brand Name to Brand Name: Title just a few days ago.

So, most of the spamming content was penalized - where is the surprise ? I don't see why you're wondering for the dropping of the ranks for the spammed content - it was normal and they announce it long time ago, now are just the results showing up

The first result for my top keyword is a site that only has 1 backlink. The keyword gets around 25,000 searches a month, I am sure things are still jumping around do not count yourself out just yet!

If you look in the BST section you will still see people buying services that COULD harm their sites.

It'll be interesting to see if any sellers tell potential customers to hold back until the dust settles.

It's the stock market update, not penguin. if you don't have stocks, influence and lobbyists you're shit out of luck. It's funny how many authority DEEP inner pages are ranking with just minimal keyword mentions in title tags and nothing much to do with the search.

I work in Silicon Valley and know how much money flows and how many meetings there are between Google and these giant companies, doesn't shock me what's going on in the disguise of "authority"

SEO'ers are like a beaten wife that goes back to the husband that treats them like shit, cuz were still optimistic they will change. Something needs to be done about their monopoly on search and the internet, it's getting bad. The stuff I'm monitoring, some completely legit white hat mom and pop shops are getting hit and other solid white hat sites are gone.

We will find ways to bounce back after these updates, but it's insane the hoola hoops and shit going on just to market a website or business.
