What Computer Language Should I Learn?

I've decided that I'm not going to put up with the buggy
iMacros for browser anymore. I'm going to dedicate
1 hour everyday to learn a new language.
What should I learn first? I've gotten around with
HTML and CSS with the help of W3 lol..
But I want to take it to the next level.. C++, Java, PHP?
In your experience, what has been the most beneficial
computer language that you've learned? In terms with IM and beyond?

What software did/do you use? codeblocks, MS Visual Studio, etc..?

If you can recommend a handbook (preferably torrent available) what would it be?

Looking forward to read about everyone's insights.

PHP is the one u need the most as it will always help you if ever have to build/manage a website.
C# if you plan on making standalone bots.
BTW if u become good at PHP u wont can build bots(web apps) with it too.

Making standalone bots is what I do plan on doing, nothing extraordinary,
perhaps it can even be done with iMacros for browsers, but iMacros doesn't
really offer a lot of functions, like when there is one error,
the whole thing just stops, unlike with standalone bots,
I will be able to do so much more.

So in terms of creating standalone bots C++ is the way to go? BTW is C# and C++ different? lol.

Is reccomend learning Visual Basic first, then php, then C++.

Visual Basic is a great language, and easy to learn.
PHP is for web browsers, great if you want to make better websites, e.g. user name and password stuff, database etc.
C++ pretty complicated! still mastering myself.

PHP is relatively easy once you have basic OOP concepts in place.

Desktop?

Of any of the C languages. Go with C#. Objective-C is always great for mobile apps.

language is just a vessel. Your brain, Way of how you build your logic is content on vessel. So Content is more important than vessel.

First tune up brain for logical thinking.

Then wat ever language u chose, u will be successful.

One more question: If I learn C++ and decided to learn Javascript, will it be like learning Mandarin and Cantonese? They are different but the concept is still the same so it will be a lot less harder since I already have a firm grasp on the concepts of C++? or will it be like learning Mandarin and Spanish? Entirely different from one another?

Depends what you wanna do. If you are wanting to build desktop applications then I would suggest starting with C/C++ and going from there. For web apps start with HTML/CSS move to Javascript, PHP, etc. Ruby on Rails.

Even learning Javascript first off will be really beneficial. You can get away with coding pure apps in JS now with node.js and what not.

Learning vb first will give you a good insight into classes, properties, variables and modules. This will give you an insight into how php works. Php is minutely similar to c++ in some ways, and then you can go on to learn whatever.

VB Similar to C++

PHP Similar to JavaScript.

May I ask the benefit of learning Python amongst any other language?

I googled OOP and from what I understand, I should learn PHP AFTER I have learned the basic concepts of the other programming languages. Now this is the reason why I want to ask the opinions of people who knows their stuff in this field first, rather than googling it. Thank you for that.

A little bit of Web Development for Wordpress since I want to develop certain functionalities with my own innovative mind, rather than just copying and pasting tutorials from other webamsters all the time. I want to be able to put my own twist at it to make my sites stand out from the rest in my niche.

But my primary focus is developing desktop apps. First for various IM automation software and later, developing commercial apps. I also want to create mobile apps.

Just like innosoft already said it's all about the logics.
When you master a language it won't be too difficult switching to other.

I say for bots C/C++
Web development, go for Java and PHP

I appreciate all the knowledge guys, it really helps a lot, I'm so excited to do this, I'm going with these order VB > C++ > PHP > Java and then do a research on Python.

I'm also going to work on my Math everyday to help with my logic.

All my friends from college that went on becoming great programmers working for Schindler, Sony etc were A students in Math, basically programming their Texas Instruments to do their homework while I programmed it so I could play Snake...lol

PHP also has a huge user group behind it and tons of open source stuff. The C languages are good, but can be a pain to deal with.

These days everywhere its wordpress buzz so I would say just learn PHP. Of course you will earn in thousands. Dont confuse yourself with lot of languages. Just learn 1 and master in it.
