Guide To Neg Rep- Dos and Donts

Ever since my rep power has been increasing so is my neg rep power.
I have seen many abuse it, so I decided to make small guide to the Dos and Donts.
I know there are a few Jr Vips so this doesn't concern regular members.

Dos
-For post count spamming -"Thanks","Awesome Thread", etc
-For swearing and insults (May also lead to ban infraction based on Mod Judgement)
-For Rude behavior. Be Nice!
-For BS- Some random guys comes and says he is a billionaire and 2 days ago was begging for pennies
-Who use websites in their location and are NOT Jr VIP
-Who hang around in hire a freelancer ALL the TIME, Literally all their posts are on hire a freelancer (Possible Scammer)
-Beggars-"Please give me money because......""help me my family is broke""I dont have food"
If you were really poor you wouldnt have internet
-Entitled morons- People who think they are entitled to receive free stuff from people.
-Arrogant people- Who think they are above everyone else.

Donts
-To 1 post spammers - They get banned within moments. Report them instead.
-To people who have a different point of view. Respect other's perspective.
-Just because you can- With great power comes great responsibility DON'T abuse it.
-Because you "think" he has a hidden agenda -
-Because he accidentally posted in the wrong section. It happens, contact a mod to move it instead.

Well MOST of you already know this and follow this. Just a gentle reminder.
Dont abuse your rep.
I have only gotten neg repped once. It was by some random dude because I didnt agree with him.
Spread some love instead. See a good post give that guy some thanks and rep. Check his previous posts first.

There was a thread several months ago - maybe about a year ago where a member had posted something helpful (or at least he thought it was) and had made the mistake of asking for thanks and rep. At the time, we had a vigilante group (whom I will not name... lol) than went around and neg repped people that asked for thanks and rep - and he went to something like -50.

At the time I was a Jr Vip and I created a post saying that there had to be a change to all of the neg repping. Those that had done the huge pile-on said they were sorry and promised not to neg rep without a good reason. For many of us, that's something we've always taken seriously. I hope that a thread like this will help others think about the reasons they neg rep - and whether they really should or shouldn't.

Now I haven't neg repped in awhile but whenever I rep, + or - to a 'non-Jr VIP and up' (aka, a person with a yellow name that can't see who the rep came from), I ALWAYS 'sign' my rep. ie. "Great method, I'm sure that will help alot of ppl out +rep *OldSalt*" - I do that because + or -, I take 'ownership' of my comments.

I didn't realise swearing was against the rules. Oops. I just saw a thread posted with the F word, everyone should neg rep them? I don't really agree with that to be honest. I know there's a bunch of people under 18 here, but mostly - this is the internet and we all know censorship doesn't work.

I don't know what the neg rep button should be used for (people trying to gain 15 posts/advertising without permission etc?) however I rely on the mods here to do a good job

It's not as much swearing itself - but when you target it AT someone. Insulting other members with personal remarks just isn't cool.

I see lots of F's and stuff but tbh unless its a "fuck you bro AND UR MUM" used in a personal way I'd hate to see it taken down or what ever.

A fuck in a general sense like "I have an owl a fucking feminaxe and now it won't fucking wake up" is fine in my eyes.

I have infractions for using the C word, I was trolling and i didn't mean it personally but I it could easily be read that way.

unrelated, or maybe I'm being dumb, but i think it's strange we can't see the list of people that repped a user or that user repped ("got repped hard," phrasing.).

I saw this poor user with -100 and wanted to know what the user did and why the harshness, but I couldn't.

Is there either a reason we can't see someone else's rep list, or can we and I am in fact blind?

Because if you have been neg repped you go after that person with vengeance and cause arguments and neg rep them for no reason.

I think it's possibly not visible to avoid rep wars within the general population.

Jr.Vips are a little more conscious about ours because we've invested a little bit more.

Hmm.. Maybe we can have a history users can view that display only the -reps, maybe the last 5 or so as an option on the member's profile. That would be enough for you to get a general idea as to why they're getting negged.

Is it ok if someone neg reps you because they think your joke is not funny? I got over 100 rep and then got neg repped like 2 minutes later which pissed me off, over a joke they thought was not funny. Oh well

Too many trolls around, for serious. I realized the lounge has gone to shits these days. It's like, you can't discuss anything without a troll coming in the way, for one it kind of sucks, for the other it's sometimes funny, but in the end it sometimes ruins threads.
